Biometric screenings update
For faculty/staff

The campus biometric screenings, held Jan. 7, encouraged 72 people to have physical checkups that not only counted toward their Health Quest points, but also informed them of any health concerns. If faculty or staff members missed making an appointment, there will be a second biometric screening scheduled for June 12 in the College Center Conference Room from 7:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.

In regards to acquiring points for Health Quest in order to save $480 on your health insurance, the amount is still 30. But note, some credit values for activities have changed. The health assessment questionnaire (HAQ) is still required and worth 10 credits. You will need to earn an additional 20 credits through participation in the various wellness program offerings.

Stephens is selected for Big 12 Faculty Fellowship

Arts, sciences and business associate professor, Greg Stephens, has been selected for a Big 12 Faculty Fellowship award. With this honor, Stephens will be traveling to Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, in January to work collaboratively with the Southwest Collection/Special Collections Library.

Stephens is researching oral histories of farmers and farm leaders in a project titled "Exploring Leadership through the Stories and Narratives of the Five General Farm Organizations in Kansas." Currently, Texas Tech University's Special Collections Library is hosting an artist-in-residence that is conducting interviews with members of the American Ag Movement, including farmers and leaders in Kansas. Stephens plans to explore the communication and stories told in these interviews to aide his research project. His goal, through his own research and visiting Texas Tech, is to give a voice to the mission, success, cooperation, impact and organizational development of farm groups like Kansas Farm Bureau, Kansas Farmers Union and Kansas' National Farmers Organization.

The Big 12 Faculty Fellowship program began in 1997, and allows faculty to increase their network of collaborators and use resources available at other institutions. Fellowships provide up to $2,500 of funding for expenses and the intended research must be done with another Big 12 university that invites the faculty member to visit. Finally, the collaborating university must also plan to visit K-State for research.

Fall Commencement

K-State Salina celebrated 53 graduates during Fall Commencement on December 12, 2014. Numerous family members, friends, faculty, staff, alumni and current students attended the ceremony to recognize all of the achievements the graduates have earned.
