Kansas State University Salina Upward Bound students participate in the Parade of Lights

The Upward Bound program staff would like to thank all of the faculty and staff who donated lights and supplies to make their float at the Parade of Lights a success.

"We are thankful for all of your contributions and support, and we hope that you will let us know if we can assist each of your departments in anyway in the near future," said Monshonda Booker, program director. "Also, thank you to the many faculty and staff who came out to the parade to support the Upward Bound students."

The theme for the Parade of Lights was "Christmas with the Stars."  Upward Bound had 14 students participate in the parade, and there was a representation of students from all four of the school districts the program serves.  In capturing the essence of the Parade of Lights, the theme for Upward Bound's individual float was "Reaching Upward Bound for the Stars" and the students were holding stars that had one aspiration written on it that each of the students are determined to achieve in the near future.

K-State Salina featured in the K-Stater magazine

K-State Salina was featured in the winter edition of the K-Stater magazine with a four-page article about the history of the campus.

A few months ago freelance writer and former editor of the magazine, Tim Lindemuth, interview several campus figures both past and present, including Dean Fitzsimmons, Tom Creech, the campus's third president, and alumnus Dennis Shreves who also taught on the campus for 20 years.

With his interviews and studying yearbooks from the K-State Salina Library, Lindemuth was able to create a story highlighting the milestone of the Salina campus's 50 years of education.

To read the full article, go to page 28 the K-Stater magazine.

A high-five is one of the most recognizable ways two people can share excitement or celebrate a job well done. K-State Salina's CEO and Dean Verna Fitzsimmons awards her high-five each week to honor faculty, staff and students for their dedication to the university.

Thank you K-State Salina alumni and friends!!

K-State Salina has slowly been building its alumni program through out the years and on November 20 I was able to see just how much it's grown.

During the football game against West Virginia, the alumni program hosted a watch party at Blue Skye Brewery in downtown Salina. Between alumni and friends of the campus, the event hosted about 30 people. Amongst a sea of purple, pom-poms and pizza, our alumni and campus supporters engaged in great conversation and school spirit.

I am so grateful that we have so many loyal alumni and supporters that want to be involved with campus events and activities. Thank you for attending and thank you for always displaying your Wildcat pride!
