Cessna Lounge makeover in the SLC
The Cessna Lounge in the Student Life Center has a brand new look!
In an effort to make the space a more appealing place for students to hangout on campus, recreation services recently purchased new furniture for the Cessna Lounge. As you can see from the above photo, the bright pops of color from the furniture complement the natural light given to the space by the giant windows.
The goal is to give the lounge a lively and upbeat feel, making it a space that attracts students who want to study, hold club meetings, watch TV, play video games, or just hangout.
With the new look, the SLC staff is excited to see a large amount of students utilizing the space.

ICYMI - IN CASE YOU MISSED IT

Speed bumps hoping to create a safe campus environment You may have noticed a few speed bumps recently placed around the campus roads. K-State Salina is hoping to make the campus a safer place for all drivers and pedestrians with these installations.
When approaching a speed bump, make sure to slow down when traveling over it. Do not try to go around the speed bump, because that violates the Kansas State Statue 8-1507 and can result in a traffic citation costing $75 and a court fee costing $108.
For questions about these official traffic control devices, contact campus police sergeant Rick Honeycutt at 785-826-2903.

Alerts system to be tested Oct. 6 On the morning of Monday, Oct. 6, Kansas State University will conduct an official test of K-State Alerts, the university's emergency notification system.
K-State Alerts is used when a dangerous condition exists on any of K-State's campuses. The system is tested twice a year to ensure that it will work during an actual emergency.
Emergency notification channels to be tested include: text messaging, automated phone calls, email to all K-State accounts, the university's home page, and the alert beacons in various buildings on the Manhattan, Olathe and Salina campuses.
To sign up to receive emergency notifications by text message or an automated phone call, students, faculty and staff with active K-State eIDs must enroll in K-State Alerts through the eProfile system.

A high-five is one of the most recognizable ways two people can share excitement or celebrate a job well done. K-State Salina's CEO and Dean Verna Fitzsimmons awards her high-five each week to honor faculty, staff and students for their dedication to the university.

Thank you to everyone involved with Wildcat Welcome Weeks!!
K-State Salina's Wildcat Welcome Weeks just wrapped up and I want to give a big thank you to everyone that was involved in making it a big success. This year's welcome weeks were a little different in that they lasted longer and were packed with more events than ever before. A few examples of the activities our students enjoyed are: the Color Fight, Nitro Bowling, paintball, a hypnotist, and Blizzard of Bucks.
These events took time to plan and required a dedication to our students, ensuring each activity engaged and entertained them. High-five to all departments who helped out, including student life coordinator Amy Sellers.
