Aviation Panel Educates Faculty and Students
In honor of K-State Salina's Alumni Fellow celebration, members of the faculty and our fellow sat on a panel to discuss the future of the aviation industry. Close to 100 K-State Salina students, faculty and staff listened as the members of the panel addressed questions like, will a K-State Salina student's aviation curriculum change in the coming years, what does the future job market look like and what advances in aviation technology are developing?
The members of the panel - Tim Rogers, executive director of the Salina Airport Authority and adjunct professor, Stephen Ley, aviation maintenance program lead, Weston Thompson, 2014 Alumni Fellow, Dr. Kurt Barnhart, aviation department head and executive director of the Applied Aviation Research Center, and Drew Smith, associate professor in aviation maintenance - answered each question with the perspective of each of their different backgrounds.
Thompson, the 2014 Alumni Fellow, is a K-State Salina graduate of the professional pilot program in 2004 and the aviation maintenance program in 2006. He is the co-owner of Scott City Aviation and a pilot, mechanic and instructor.

Library Book Drive Have used books lying around? Donate them to the book drive!
The library will be hosting a book drive from now until May 16 to collect both new and used books through Better World Books. If the bookstore doesn't want them, you can't sell them back on Amazon or they're out of date or highlighted, please consider donating your books to this wonderful cause.
Place the books in the bins located around campus or bring your books to the library. Have an office or car-full? We'll be right over to collect them for you!
All the books will go towards helping the National Center for Family Literacy, a nationwide program designed to help disadvantaged children and parents become better readers.
For more information, email [email protected].
