Turn a Working Lunch into a Walking Lunch
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas is sponsoring the eighth annual National Walk at Lunch Day on Wednesday, April 30, to encourage busy people to turn a working lunch into a walking lunch. The rally and walk event will begin at noon at Salina's Campbell Plaza.
Walking is one of the easiest and most effective forms of exercise. Taking a brisk, 30-minute walk on a regular basis can reduce stress, lower blood pressure and decrease the risk of heart attack and type-2 diabetes.
Download pre-designed promotional materials for the event at http://bcbsks.com/CustomerService/Employers/tools.htm. A limited number of free event T-shirts are available to participants.

Campus Announcements
Student Leaders Attend Peer Mentor Institute
K-State Salina student leaders from various clubs and organizations attended the Peer Mentor Institute a few weeks ago at Fort Hays State University. The 18 students sat in on various sessions learning about peer mentoring, connecting with international students, utilizing social media, and networking. Interim Assistant Director of Student Services, Amy Sellers said, "What our student leaders learned at this conference will not only transform K-State Salina's campus, but the information will also be passed on to other students as well."
Professor's Work Published
K-State Salina assistant professor of economics, Dr. Siny Joseph, was recently featured in an IEEE publication. She is the author of "Towards Environmentally Sustainable Mobile Computing Through an Economic Framework" and it was printed in IEEE Transactions on Emerging Topics in Computing. IEEE is the world's largest professional association for the advancement of technology.
Library Materials Renewable Online

No need to brave the gusty Kansas winds or April showers to take care of your library materials. Students, faculty and staff can now renew their library items online! Just click on "My Account" in the library catalog to be shown a list of items you have checked out, to save your catalog search results or to renew any items you may want to keep longer (renewal not available for items with a hold). Questions? Email libhelp@sal.ksu.edu or stop by the library!

A high-five is one of the most recognizable ways two people can share excitement or celebrate a job well done. K-State Salina's CEO and Dean Verna Fitzsimmons awards her high-five each week to honor faculty, staff and students for their dedication to the university.

Thank You Dustin Keiswetter!
Dustin designed the newest edition of the traveling trophy given out as the Best Booth Award for Open House. I really appreciate the time and effort Dustin put in to creating this fun trophy. Let the competition begin!
Great Job Nicholas Simpson!
Nicholas, a digital media student, produced the digital effects that transformed the Beast into the prince during the stage show of Disney's Beauty and the Beast at the Stiefel Theater in Salina. Nicholas' work helped make this production really special - nice job!
