 | ICYMI: In Case You Missed It

 | Residence Hall is officially Schilling Hall After approval from the Kansas Board of Regents on March 12, the building simply known as Residence Hall for the last 20 years on campus will now be called Schilling Hall.
The change comes after several students expressed their confusion over the literally named Residence Hall, saying an actual name would make it easier to distinguish between it and the other residence hall, Harbin Hall. The Student Governing Association then solicited name suggestions from the student body, and the K-State Salina Student Senate voted on the final decision. Schilling Hall was chosen as a nod to the past when the campus was first Schilling Air Force Base and later Schilling Institute.   Once Dean Fitzsimmons approved the residence hall name change, it was submitted to the Kansas Board of Regents to become official.  The K-State Salina Residence Hall Association will be offering a walk-through to the community of one of the upgraded rooms in Harbin Hall on March 26 from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Residence Hall Association is asking for feedback on the current upgrade as they move forward with renovations to other rooms.
Changes to residence life publications and housing contracts with the new Schilling Hall name will begin immediately and the sign in front of the hall is expected to change sometime in May. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is also planned, but no date has been set yet. |

 | A high-five is one of the most recognizable ways two people can share excitement or celebrate a job well done. K-State Salina's CEO and Dean Verna Fitzsimmons awards her high-five each week to honor faculty, staff and students for their dedication to the university. |

Thank You Student Governing Association
The Student Governing Association has been hard at work making things happen on K-State Salina's campus and I want to recognize all of your efforts. Thank you for installing the new water bottle refilling stations around campus. In a world where so many people and organizations are trying to go green, I applaud you for creating a way that our university can contribute to helping the environment.   I also want to congratulate you on the finalization of the Residence Hall name change. You listened to the students' needs and concerns, and spearheaded this project from the beginning. Great job! |
