Multicultural Tasting Fair 
The Multicultural Connection Committee is pleased to announce the annual
Multicultural Tasting Fair will be held on Wednesday, November 20th from

Please share your culinary expertise by bringing a culturally inspired dish
to the Tech Center Lobby on that morning. This event will be held in
conjunction with International Education Week, celebrated November 17-21. 

We would like the entries to include extra information about the culture
they come from. This could include an artifact, music, informational
handouts, or clothing - anything you feel represents your culture! Please
encourage students to participate as well!!

Please send the name of your dish and the recipe to me at kimms@ksu.edu by Monday, November 18th so that I may have copies prepared.

National Distance Learning Week
Celebrate National Distance Learning Week by attending a campus presentation on November 14, 2013, at 3:30 p.m. in the College Center Conference Room. Dr. Gayle Doll, Assistant Professor, Director K-State Center on Aging will discuss her experience as a faculty member teaching online and the benefits of distance education. Alternative Service Committee Informal Drop By Session
Attention: Classified Employees

This Friday, November 8th, Carol Marden, Chair of the Alternative Service Committee will be on campus from 9:30 - 11:30 in the Stevens Board Room in the College Center for an informal drop by session, at your convenience. Stop by to have any questions you, as a classified employee, may have regarding the University Support Staff (USS) or the voting process.

Candy Canes and Airplanes
Candy Canes and Airplanes will be held on Saturday, December 7 at the Salina Airport. This is a community event sponsored by K-State Salina and the Salina Airport Authority. Families from the community will be in attendance to see Santa and and participate in activities at K-State student club booths.

Student clubs are invited to host a holiday themed booth and may use this as a fundraiser. Clubs interested in submitting a proposal to host a booth for fundraising during this event should contact Kirsten Zoller at kzoller@k-state.edu for an application. Applications are due November 7.

1. The Salina Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 1432 is offering a scholarship. Application forms can be picked up in Room 208G College Center. Open to any student, any major as long as they are a sophomore or higher. (You do not need to be a member or child of a member of the VFW. You also do not have to be a Salina resident to apply.)

1. The Dan L. Meisinger Sr. Memorial Learn to Fly Scholarship is open for applications. Preference given to residents of Kansas, Missouri or Illinois. Must have a "B" average. Award is $2500 to be used towards initial or primary flight training.

2. Women in Aviation if offering a number of scholarships again (both men and women can apply). We have had K-State students receive scholarships from this organization in the past.

Flight Team Competition Results

Congratulations to the K-State Salina Flight Team and their awards that they received at this year's NIFA regional SAFECON! The team took first place overall for the first time in K-State Salina history! Team member Tosh Taylor was awarded Top Pilot. The team also took first place in the ground events and second in the flying events. Way to go Flight Team, and good luck at Nationals!

Did you know that you can access your W-2 information on-line in the State of Kansas Employee Self Service at any time by providing your consent to receive W-2 information electronically? It's safe, secure, and convenient! Simply complete the W-2/W-2C Consent in Employee Self Service and you can view/print your W-2 for 2008-2012! W-2 information will be available on-line in early January for 2013 W-2s. For employees who do not consent to receive this information electronically, a printed 2013 W-2 will be mailed in late January in accordance with IRS regulations. Coffee with the Dean

"Coffee with the Dean" will be on the first Friday of every month, in the morning. The goal of this is to have a nice open forum time in the community where she is available to anyone and can answer any questions anyone has, discuss campus happenings, etc. The inaugural coffee talk will be Friday, December 6, 7:30 am to 9:00 am at Moka's downtown. Please join us for any part of this, as it is come and go and we would value your support. 

Participants Needed for Online Survey about Communication in Post-Divorce Military Families

You are invited to participate in a research study designed to help in understanding how post-divorce military families communicate. You may be eligible to participate in this survey if you meet the following criteria: you are divorced, you have a child or children from that marriage and your children are 17-years-old or younger, and you or your ex-partner is active duty military. 

The online survey will take approximately 15 to 30 minutes to complete and you will have the opportunity at the end of the survey to enter into a drawing to win one of 4 $50 gift cards. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to volunteer to participate in an interview and receive $30 for your interview participation. To participate in the survey, please click  here.

All information provided will remain confidential, and participation is voluntary. This research study has been approved by the Kansas State University Institutional Review Board.

Burton Scholarship provides opportunities for 3 K-State Salina students

The Connor Burton Aviation Foundation awarded three scholarships to students in Kansas State University Salina's professional pilot program, making them the fifth group of students to receive this valuable award.

The students were awarded $10,000 scholarships, which are split between their junior and senior years, to help pay for flying time or books and tuition and enabling them to earn their flight certificates more quickly.
