On Tuesday, January 26, 2016 the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce and Coastal Alabama Partnership will host a meeting and Public Hearing for the Alabama Legislature's Permanent Joint Transportation Committee from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the Mobile Marriott, 3101 Airport Boulevard, 2nd floor ballroom. ALDOT Director John Cooper is also expected to attend. The purpose of the meeting is to provide an update on the state of Alabama's infrastructure and collect public input about local needs ( i.e., the completion of the new U.S. Hwy 98 Project) related to surface transportation. Our regional infrastructure is extremely important and directly linked to our safety, economic prosperity, and overall quality of life. For a list of the Permanent Joint Transportation Committee members Click Here. The public is invited to attend.
Best Wishes to everyone for a healthy and happy 2016!
Warmest Regards and Laissez les bons temps rouler!

COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT FEATURING...
THE USS ALABAMA CREWMATE PROGRAM
|
The USS ALABAMA Crewmate Program was founded in 1967 as an ambassador effort for the then newly created USS ALABAMA Battleship Memorial Park. The Crewmates volunteer their time at events to promote the Park, which honors all Alabamians who have served in all branches of the military.
The program now in its 48th year, has offered more than 200 young ladies an opportunity to serve in this position, and also to receive scholarship funds to the college or university of their choice. The USS ALABAMA Crewmates have dedicated thousands of community service hours not only to Battleship Memorial Park, but also to Mobile County, Baldwin County, and the State of Alabama.

|
|
The selection process, held each year, is based on an interview using information supplied by the applicants during the application process. A panel of judges, not affiliated with Battleship Memorial Park, conducts the interview. The new group of Crewmates is selected at the end of the interview process. The young ladies represent the Park for a one-year term. Each year, $7,500.00 in scholarship money is awarded to the young women selected as the new Crewmates. Young ladies must be between the ages of 19-21, reside in Mobile or Baldwin County, and, if chosen, remain for the duration of their one year term.
