MESSAGE FROM COMMISSIONER CONNIE HUDSONMessage

If April showers bring May flowers... as the rhyme goes, then Mobile County has certainly had plentiful precipitation recently to encourage a very generous display of Spring blossoms and healthy vegetation growth. Spring has definitely arrived! Please make sure to check out the Spring Calendar of Events in this issue to find out about upcoming local events and activities of interest.

On Thursday, April 16, I was very honored and pleased to accept a Community Partner Award on behalf of the Mobile County Commission from Partners for Environmental Progress (PEP). The coalition represents over 200 local businesses and education leaders who share the vision of applying science-based environmental best practices to business and community issues. The award was presented jointly to Mobile County and to Goodwill Easter Seals of the Gulf Coast for the development and operation of the Mobile County Recycling Center located off of Hitt Road. After only five months of operation, the Center is averaging 1,900 vehicles per week and has collected over 690,000 pounds of recyclables! I am proud of the County's continued commitment to protecting and preserving our precious natural resources, and especially proud of our citizens in supporting these efforts.

Have a safe and enjoyable weekend!

Warmest Regards,

Connie
