THE FIRST ANNUAL "ROY PATTON DAY" SOCCER FESTIVAL
When: 3 p.m. Friday, May 30 and 9 a.m. Saturday, May 31
Where: 1301 Azalea Road, Mobile
In 1996 the City of Mobile designated May 30 as "Roy Patton Day" to honor Mr. Patton's contributions to youth soccer in Mobile County. The Mobile soccer community currently celebrates this event to raise money to provide an awareness about the soccer programs within our community. Soccer enthusiasts are being challenged to come out and "get counted" by taking just a couple of minutes to fill out a soccer census card. The event will feature Soccer Genius (skill measure), a dunking booth and skill challenges that test accuracy, power, distance and juggling. The event will also feature a soccer obstacle course, soccer jersey contest, concessions and is also an opportunity to learn about local university soccer programs, youth and adult soccer leagues, competitive clubs and recreational and church soccer programs.
