SPRING HILL COLLEGE HOSTS "HELENE BERR, A STOLEN LIFE" EXHIBITION

   

When: Now through August 10, 2014

Where: Spring Hill College Marnie and John Burke Memorial Library, Barter Room 2nd Floor, 4000 Dauphin Street, Mobile

 

The exhibition goes beyond the framework of Berr's Journal and personality, as it broadens the context of the Occupation and addresses largely the persecution of the Jews in France. With the support of photographs, archives, films, and interactive animations, this exhibition shows how the daily lives of Jews had been impacted by these terrible acts of violence.

EASTER SUNRISE SERVICE AT BELLINGRATH GARDENS AND HOME


When: 6:30 a.m. Sunday, April 20
Where: Bellingrath Gardens and Home, 12401 Bellingrath Gardens Road, Theodore

As the sun rises over Bellingrath Gardens and Home come and enjoy a special Sunrise Service with friends and family on Live Oak Plaza between the Home and the Boehm Gallery. Pastors and volunteers from Dauphin Way United Methodist Church and Central Presbyterian Church will participate in the service and will serve as greeters and ushers. Dauphin Way UMC's Rev. Brad Goode will provide the Easter message. During the service an offering will be collected to benefit The Interfaith Hospitality Network-The Family Promise Ministry.

Complimentary admission will be given to guests from 6 a.m. until 8 a.m. on Easter Sunday. A limited number of chairs will be set up and guests are encouraged to bring their own chairs. A continental breakfast will be available in the Magnolia Café from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.

SUNRISE SERVICE AT USS BATTLESHIP
 
When: 6 a.m. Sunday, April 20
Where: USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park, 2703 Battleship Parkway, Causeway

Join Dauphin Way Baptist Church at Battleship Memorial Park for the 44th annual sunrise service on Easter morning. This service is free and open to the public.

UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH ALABAMA SOCCER CLINIC

The University of South Alabama is holding a free soccer clinic for boys and girls ages 3 years to 8th grade. Bring a soccer ball, cleats and shin guards. Join the fun and develop your skills!

Mayor Sandy Stimpson announced the latest in a series of community meetings to hear from citizens about important issues facing their neighborhoods and the City of Mobile. The meetings are designed to give citizens direct access to the mayor and to senior members of his administration. Stimpson said the meetings are part of his plan to engage citizens in a conversation about the future of Mobile.

65TH ANNUAL BLESSING OF THE FLEET

   

When: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 3 and Sunday, May 4

Where: St. Margaret Catholic Church, 13790 South Wintzelll Avenue, Bayou La Batre

 

This annual event is made possible by the shipbuilders of Bayou La Batre and Coden and the City of Bayou LaBatre. It features the annual blessing of the ships, a fun-run, children's activities, raffles, a gumbo cook-off, traditional seafood and Vietnamese food and much more!
