CELEBRATE FREEDOM
When: 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 3
Where: Mary G. Montgomery High School, 4275 Snow Road, Semmes
The focus of the event is to bring families together to celebrate faith and freedom and to honor those who have served or are currently serving in the military. Attractions include an antique car show, arts and crafts, hot air balloon rides, a petting zoo and other children's activities. Registration in the car show is free. Set-up is at 2 p.m. and judging will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Christian recording act Big Daddy Weave will perform. Attendees are asked not to bring ice chests, coolers or picnic baskets, but there will be plenty of delicious food and drinks for purchase so families can enjoy a picnic together.
Cost: $2 donation. There is no charge for children 5 and younger.

CITY OF MOBILE INDEPENDENCE DAY FIREWORKS
When: 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday, July 4
Where: USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park, 2703 Battleship Parkway, Mobile
The event will feature a performance by the Mobile Pops Band at 7 p.m., followed by a large-scale fireworks display starting at 9 p.m. Concession and restroom facilities will be available. No grills or alcoholic beverages are allowed. Law enforcement officials will direct traffic entering and leaving the park. No one will be allowed to stop on the Causeway or Bayway to view the show. The show will be shot from a barge located behind the battleship. No personal water craft will be allowed within 750 feet of the barge. All rules will be strictly enforced.
Cost: Battleship Park opens at 8 a.m., with normal park admission prices applying. Field parking for the fireworks show opens at 4 p.m.; the cost to park will be $2 before 5 p.m. and $5 after.

INDEPENDENCE DAY BAY BEARS GAME
When: 7:05 p.m. Thursday, July 4
Where: Bay Bears Stadium, 755 Bolling Brothers Boulevard, Mobile
The Mobile Bay Bears will face off against the Montgomery Biscuits this July 4. The game will feature a hot dog eating contest, root beer floats and a big fireworks show following the fame.

DAUPHIN ISLAND ANNUAL JULY 4TH FIREWORKS
When: 9 p.m. Thursday, July 4
Where: Dauphin Island
Dauphin Island will present its annual July 4 fireworks show near the Dauphin Island fishing pier. The fireworks will be visible from points all along the Gulf side of the island. In case of rain, the show will be held July 5.

CHICKASAW 5TH ANNUAL INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION
When: 5:30 p.m.Thursday, July 4
Where: Brooks Park, Chickasaw
Chickasaw's 5th Annual Independence Day Celebration will be held July 4 at Brooks Park. Attractions include food, cold drinks and baked goods for sale, plus music, the Hope Puppet Show, games and fireworks to begin around 9 p.m. A kayak fun paddle starts at 6 p.m. The event will also be the July outing event for Chickasaw area seniors. Seniors should contact Stephanie Stewart at 452-6464 for transportation.

Where: Cathedral Square, Downtown Mobile Shop for the freshest crops in town, including locally grown tomatoes, potatoes, sweet corn, cantaloupe, watermelon, seafood, flowers, plants, baked breads, pasta, casseroles, pies, handcrafted goods and so much more.
