The fifth annual Walking Stick Challenge takes place at CSU Pueblo campus.
Early spring course conditions were a challengefor the 102 paqrticipants but the weather was outstanding which allowed players to maneuver around the course well.
Jake Staiano from Englewood Colorado found his way to the top of the leaderboard for 63 Boys 15-19 earning him 4 AJGA Stars for this AJGA, Golfweek and Junior Golf Scoreboard ranked event. After finding himself in third after round 1 he was able to stay steady and close for the win. Jake had one double bogey 5 birdies and 4 bogeys for the weekend. Jake finishes with 74-71. Randy Urso from Aurora Co was in first place after round 1 but 4 bogeys and a double on #10 for round 2 gave him a 77 to follow his impressive 69. He takes second. Garrett Jones from Arvada was third going into the second day and won the scorecard playoff with Sam Marley and Chase Federico.
Garden City Kansas golfers seem to enjoy coming for this tournament each year and they always represent their city well. Abby Shaddix places 1st for the Girls 15-19. Emma Whitaker from Wichita Kansas takes 2nd and Alex Trask who resides in Denver CO gets 3rd.
The Boys 13-14 division's winners circle includes Austin Hardman from Highlands Ranch CO who struggled the first day and came back strong carding an 81-73. Josh Caridi from Ft Collins CO had 77-82 and gets second and Cole Krantz from Windsor who was the leader after round one had a rougher second day and takes the third place finish.
Garden City's Sion Audrain wins a 1 hole playoff against Tyler Mulligan from Parker CO. They teed it up for the 37th hole playing hole number 1 again. Sion got a birdie and Tyler got a par. Cade Kilkenny from Centennial ends up in third.
The U14 girls division was well represented. Jaclyn from Aurora CO is 1st with the most birdies and pars for her division. Amisha Singh from Greenwood Village CO gets 2nd and lead the stats for her par 4 performance and Dolores Sharaf from Aspen CO gets 3rd.
