Seniors! It's time to schedule your senior conference with your counselor. Senior conferences will take place Sept. 3-30, 2015. Be sure to attend this important meeting to discuss your progress towards meeting graduation requirements, and to learn how to begin the college and scholarship search, as well as how to request transcripts and recommendations.
All appointments will last approximately 30 minutes, and must be booked at least two days in advance but no more than 10 days in advance. Upon receipt of booking your appointment, you will receive a confirmation and a reminder email. Please share the confirmation with your student so that they may use it as a pass out of class to the Counseling Office for your appointment.

COLLEGE VISITS TO CCHS AND INFORMATION OPPORTUNITIES

CCHS Seniors and Juniors with a particular interest in a college or university:
- Come by the Counseling Office and get a College Visit pass at least three days before the representative's visit.
- The College Visit Pass must be signed by the teacher whose class the student will miss during the visit time and the student is responsible for making up any missed assignments.
- The College Visits are 30 minutes long and offer the Admissions Representative to present great information about their institution.
- Students attending have the opportunity to ask questions and learn more directly from the Admission Rep.
- For many of the colleges, the visiting representative may be the first reader of the student's application.

Brandeis University announces their Annual Multicultural Fly-In Program, SEED (Students Exploring and Embracing Diversity) SEED is an opportunity for accomplished high school seniors to connect with faculty, staff and current Brandeis students, experience multiculturalism through the Intercultural Center and student clubs, and develop a clearer understanding of the college admissions process. SEED takes place November 1-3, 2015.
Interested students must apply by September 8, 2015. The program includes travel funding to and from Brandeis for those who qualify, meals at university dining facilities, and overnight accommodations in residence halls with current students. Space is limited. Apply today at brandeis.edu/SEED.

Carnegie Mellon Information Session

Carnegie Mellon announces a Fall 2015 Information Session to be held on Sunday, September 13 at 2:00 pm at Atlanta Marriott Perimeter Center, 246 Perimeter Center Pkwy, NE, Atlanta, GA 30346. Attendees will learn about colleges and programs, admission and financial aid and campus life. Mississippi University Fall Preview Days
|
Mississippi University announces their Fall Preview Days on October 12, October 26 and November 9. Students are parents are encouraged to select the date that works best for their schedules. There is a $10 charge per person. These events are designed to assist high school seniors in their college search process. Lunch, MSU ice cream and a t-shirt are included with the registration. Space is limited and events fill to capacity every year, so students are encouraged to register as soon as possible. Online registration goes live on September 11 at 9:00 am.

Mississippi State University Scholars Recognition Day
|
Mississippi State University announces their Scholars Recognition Day on September 28, 2015. This event is only for high school seniors who have a composite ACT score of 29 or higher. Because this is an invitation-only event, there is no charge. However, there are only 450 seats available and they will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Wesleyan University Fall Open House
|
Wesleyan University announces their Fall 2015 Open House to be held Monday, October 12 or Wednesday, November 11. During the visit, students will have the opportunity to visit classes, meet students and faculty , learn more about the admission process and financial aid opportunities and explore the campus community.
The Transportation Assistance Program (TAP) provides an all-expenses-paid visit to campus for a select number of high school seniors interested in attending one of Wesleyan Universities Open House programs. Preference is given to applicants who otherwise would not be able to afford a visit to campus. College Scholarship Notebook
|
The bright red College Scholarship Notebook for 2015-2016 is now available in the CCHS Counseling Office. Hard copies of scholarship materials and announcements received are filed here by due date. Most of these opportunities are also sent out on the Bulldog Bulletin and most are also available online and will be included in the regular CCHS Scholarship Newsletters beginning later in the fall. Students and parents are welcome to view the College Scholarship Notebook and we'll make copies of materials needed.

Berea College Pinnacle Scholars
|
Berea College announces the sixth annual Pinnacle Scholars, recognizing excellence in the areas of science, music, and service. Seniors interested in a nomination for the Pinnacle Scholar Awards of Excellence, should contact their counselor before the September 25 deadline.

University of North Carolina Charlotte Levine Scholarship nominations
|
The University of North Carolina Charlotte announces that nominations for the Levine Scholarship are now open. Levine Scholarships will be awarded to 20 incoming freshmen who will receive full tuition, room and board for eight semesters of undergraduate study at UNC Charlotte. Scholars will also have access to funding for four summer experiences and a service grant. The value of the scholarshp over four years is $155,000 for non-residents. Interested students should notify their counselor as soon as possible if they are interested in a nomination for the Levine Scholarship. Nominations will be accepted until October 15, 2015

Washington University Danforth Scholars Program
|
Washington University in St. Louis announces the Danforth Scholars Program at Washington University is now accepting nominations from high school counselors. Candidates will have demonstrated service and leadership as well as academic excellence. The University is especially interested in students who exhibit qualities that embody the essence of Danforths-maturity, strong moral character, selflessness and commitment to the community. Seniors who are interested in attending Washington University and would like to be nominated for the Danforth Scholarship should see their Counselor before September 30.

Wendy's High School Heisman
|
Every year, Wendy's High School Heisman recognizes more than 5000 of the best high school seniors and rewards $120,000 to schools across the country. Senior student-athletes who show leadership, dedication and determination are encouraged to get the recognition they deserve by applying for the Wednesday's High School Heisman award before October 2, 2015. Senior students can apply at WendysHeisman.com.

AES Engineering Scholarship
|
AES Engineering is pleased to be able to continue offering scholarships to motivated students to help in the furthering of their education. The award is $500 and the deadline for entry is October 7, 2015.

Davidson College Belk Scholarship
|
Davidson College announces the annually renewable Belk Scholarship, Davidson's most prestigious merit-based program (valued at over $60,119 for the 2015-2016 school year). In addition, each Belk Scholar receives two special study stipends (up to $3,000 per stipend) to pursue international study and other enrichment opportunities. CCHS seniors who are interested in the Belk Scholarship should contact their counselor as soon as possible for a nomination. CCHS may nominate one or two students for the Belk Scholarship before the November 6, 2015 deadline.
