Friends of the Chamblee Library seek Student Volunteers to help set up & take down
(and earn Bulldog Service Hours!)
|
The Friends of Chamblee Library will host their next Book Sale --- the biggest one of the year --- in August, right before school starts. The Friends greatly appreciated the CCHS student help at their April book sale and would really like to have some student help again for the set up and take down activities of the book sale.
Set up will be at the Chamblee Library on Saturday, August 1st from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. They need 4-5 students willing to help set up tables and move many boxes of books out to the sale area in the library's resource room on August 1. They also need 4-5 students to help with take down of those same tables and any unsold books on Wednesday, August 12 from 11:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. Spots are limited, so sign up to volunteer as soon as possible with Ms. Maller at rmaller@bellsouth.net. Thanks for any help you can provide. Student volunteers will earn Bulldog Service Hours.

From the Counseling Office - Requirements to receive credit for summer courses
|
In order to award credit for summer school courses successfully passed, the CCHS Counseling Department MUST receive an official, sealed transcript from the summer school. Parents, if your student has taken a class in summer school, please be sure to provide an official transcript to the Counseling Department by August 5, 2015. Without an official transcript, students could possibly be re-scheduled for courses completed in the summer. Help us help your student begin the year with the correct schedule by providing the required transcript so students can be placed in the proper classes.
Electronic transcripts will not be accepted, so please hand deliver official transcripts to the school or mail copies to the school at:

Charter Renewal Petition Vote is Wednesday, August 12, 2015
|
Parents and Guardians of CCHS students are encouraged to cast a vote for or against submitting a Charter Petition for Chamblee Charter High School to continue as a charter school. If a majority of CCHS teachers and parents vote yes, and the new Charter is approved by DeKalb County Schools and the State, it will be effective for five years beginning July 1, 2016. If a majority vote no, Chamblee will no longer have Charter status after July 1, 2016.
Although CCHS parents and staff voted last September (2014) to approve the charter petition, and it was submitted to DCSD on time, the Georgia Board of Education approved major changes in charter school policy shortly after submittal.
The DCSD Charter Division and the CCHS Governance Council agreed that deadlines for the 2014 petition cycle would not provide enough time for DCSD and CCHS to clarify the impacts of these changes. Therefore, CCHS requested a one year extension and is resubmitting a renewal petition in the 2015 cycle. Another formal vote is required because it is a new petition cycle and the petition had to be rewritten to match the new format from DCSD.
The Vote will take place in the CCHS GYM LOBBY from 7:00 am until 7:00 pm on Wednesday, August 12th.
Parents and Guardians shall collectively have one vote for each student enrolled in CCHS. You must have a state or federal issued valid photo ID to vote.
