Girl Scouting needs all kinds of adult volunteers - troop leaders and co-leaders, assistant leaders, event coordinators, mentors, committee members, area coordinators, and more!  Spend some time this summer considering the role YOU can play in helping build girls of courage, confidence, and character!  Contact your Membership Recruiter or email [email protected] for more information!

Pat on the Back!

GSSI has so many great volunteers and staff who are generous with their time and talent! A big thank you goes to:

Dubois County "Celebrate Girls" end-of-year event committee members, Jayme Buechler, Kathy Messmer, Erica Rummel, Johnna Gilbert, Angie Phillips, and Jody Brant.  Thank you for your hard work on coordinating this great program to recognize our girls' achievements! (from Jen Verkamp, volunteer)

Susan Longest, who is stepping down from the North Central Service Unit Chair position after 12 years to serve as Chair of GSSI's Board of Directors. We appreciate her hard work, dedication, passion, and commitment. She has been the backbone of the service unit.  Good luck with your new role in Girl Scouts! (from Gretchen Helm, Membership Recruiter)

Gibson County Girl Scout Pixar Event Committee adults--Kellie Jarboe, Chandra Riley, and Angela Tice, and Cadette Girl Scout Hadley Sheffer.  The evening was a success because of your willingness to share your talent and valuable time.(from Krista Ingle, volunteer, and Donna Hodge, Membership Recruiter)

Michelle Blandford, for teaching Basic Outdoor Skills last Saturday, in spite of uncooperative weather. Her adult learners commented "Excellent!", "Outstanding information and techniques, and terrific recipes!", and "Great facilitator." (from Margaret Dennis, Dir.of Volunteer Resources)

Would you like to give a "Pat-on-the-Back" to a special person who went that extra mile or stepped in to help without being asked? Send an email to Margaret with the name of the volunteer or staff member and how she/he helped out.

Summer Paperwork Wrap-Up

-  Update your Adult Record to keep track of your GS experience.

- Submit Finance Reports for every group with a bank account: troop, cluster, day camp, service unit, etc. It is strongly recommended that reports be submitted as soon as you have the May bank statements and have finalized all income and expenses for the program year. Reports MUST be submitted to the council, along with copies of bank statements, by July 30.

- Submit Honor/Golden Honor Troop Application by June 15. This award recognizes troops that achieve the Essential Elements of a Girl Scout troop, and provide overall excellence in troop management and programming in a given year. To achieve this honor, leaders and girls must work in partnership with each other, other troops, Service Team and council staff.
