Pat on the Back!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GSSI has so many great volunteers and staff who are generous with their time and talent! A big thank you goes to:
  • Michelle Blandford and Mike Gunderloy, for facilitating a fun day of outdoor training!  Volunteers who attended had a great time building a campfire, cooking and eating!! (from Margaret Dennis)
  • Pike County volunteers who helped make the Pike County Girl's Night Out a huge success!  Committee members Ellen Brasher, Sandy McBeth, and Arteena Rothrock and girl members Emily Brasher, Selena Cropper, Amber Dixon, Halie Gladish and Makenna Goins, deserve extra thanks for many hours spent preparing for this event. (from Donna Hodge)
Would you like to give a "Pat-on-the-Back" to a special person who went that extra mile or stepped in to help without being asked?  Send an email to Margaret  with the name of the volunteer or staff member and how he/she helped out.  Pats-on-the-Back will be published in each issue of this eNewsletter.
Volunteer Resources
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Mentors needed

Are you an experienced volunteer who would like to share your knowledge and excitement with new volunteers? Mentoring might be a great role for you! Contact your Membership Recruiter, or [email protected], for more information.

On-time Registration

Remember that the Girl Scout year is October 1- September 30. Has your troop re-registered for this year, 2014-2015? Troop leaders will be able to access their troop rosters online as long as they have renewed their membership and have taken the required training update. Contact your membership recruiter if you have any questions.

Money Earning

The Cookie Program is a troop's main money earning project; however, if needed, Brownie and older troops are allowed ONE additional money earning project per year.  There are GSUSA and legal restrictions on types of projects allowed. Details are included in Volunteer Essentials, but here are a few things to remember if you are considering a money earning project:

  • Troops must participate in the Cookie Program.
  • Per GSUSA, product sales are not allowed (other than GS cookies). Service projects are encouraged.
  • Per IRS regulations, funds raised must be used to further the Girl Scout mission, and must be used to benefit the entire group, not individual participants.
  • Money Earning Project Application must be submitted to council prior to beginning the project.
