Congrats to Yannick Bisson!

Ready for some good news from Guest of Honor Maureen Jennings?

Here's what her husband, Iden Ford, posted on Facebook last night:

"It was officially announced by Yannick Bisson tonight as he received his Canadian Screen Award for most favourite actor Fan award that there will be a season 10 of Murdoch Mysteries this coming year... I want to especially thank Maureen Jennings for creating the character of William Murdoch so that both Peter Outerbridge and Yannick Bisson could bring life to the character over the years and... Congrats to Yannick for this most deserving award, Maureen and I are and were fans from the beginning."

Murdoch Mysteries is a Canadian television series based on the characters from Maureen's The Murdoch Mysteries novels, beginning with Except The DyingSome characters from her later books, including Shipwreck, show up through the 9 seasons. The highly-rated and critically acclaimed crime drama has become one of Canada's most popular.

Set in Toronto at the dawn of the 20th century during the age of invention, Murdoch Mysteries explores the intriguing world of William Murdoch (Yannick Bisson), a detective who pioneers innovative forensic techniques to solve some of the city's most gruesome murders. He enjoys following latest technological advances and believes that many of them can be applied to solving crimes. Finger-printing, blood testing, surveillance, you name it -- Murdoch picks up on up-and-coming technologies quickly and shocks his colleagues and the criminals with his swift and brilliant means of solving challenging murder cases.

The series has been licensed to broadcasters in 110 countries and territories worldwide to date, including cable network Ovation in the United States (currently airing Season 9 as "The Artful Detective" Saturdays at 7 p.m. ET) and Chinese state-owned drama channel CCTV-8, which reaches 200 million homes. The series ranks as the #1 original series on the leading UK crime drama channel Alibi; is one of the top three highest-rated programs in France on France Television with an average viewership of 3.5 million; and was the most-watched foreign program in Finland in November 2014, boasting more viewers than Downton Abbey. In the U.S., the series is also available via Netflix, Hulu and Acorn TV, and earlier seasons air in syndication on superstations across the country.

With millions of fans worldwide, Murdoch Mysteries boasts one of the most engaged fan communities in Canadian television, including 90,000 likes on Facebook and 85,000+ followers for the series and its cast on Twitter. Fan events in Ontario attract thousands each summer from across Canada, the U.S., UK, France and Australia.
