James Rollins

on tour for THE EYE OF GOD

SUNDAY, JUNE 30, 7 p.m.

Eye of God We have always been fascinated by apocalyptic themes - to learn how the world might end, how we might (or might not) survive the next global threat.  In each of his bestsellers, James Rollins weaves hidden facts, startling secrets, and amazing yet plausible circumstances to craft a story unlike any other.  With each new book, he goes one step beyond, stacking the deck with greater surprises. Associated Press explains, each of his books "reads like the best of Michael Crichton.  The machinations of government read like the best of David Baldacci.  And the action and thrills read like the best of Clive Cussler.  Rollins takes the best of all of these and creates an amazing thriller unlike any other."  And now comes his greatest novel to date and his most earth-shattering view of tomorrow, THE EYE OF GOD!

THE EYE OF GOD is New York Times and USA Today bestselling summer thriller master James Rollins' next in his series featuring Sigma Force-an elite and covert arm of the Department of Defense's DARPA unit-which reveals an apocalyptic vision of the day after tomorrow, of a future predicted by the distant past, of a world doomed to burn. Rooted in scientific and historical plausibility, THE EYE OF GOD is this summer's most gripping adventure thriller that urges readers to stretch their imaginations while educating them about real facts and details.

In THE EYE OF GOD Rollins combines high concept scientific theories-think time travel-with fascinating historical and religious facts (Did you know that 1 out of 200 men in the world are related genetically to Genghis Khan? And that rises to 1 out of 10 in Mongolia!), to redefine reality as we know it.  Rollins uses his medical and scientific knowledge to meld cutting edge science with history and religion, and creates a fast-paced plot that informs just as much as it entertains.

THE EYE OF GOD finds Sigma Force on the hunt for a crashed U.S. military research satellite in the remote wilds of Mongolia.  The last blurry image from the falling satellite displayed the eastern seaboard of the United States smoldering and in utter ruin.

At the same time, a mysterious package arrives at the Vatican containing two artifacts: a skull scrawled with ancient Aramaic and a tome bound in human skin.  DNA confirms they both came from a single body- the long-dead Mongol king, Genghis Khan. It is up to Commander Gray Pierce, aided by a pair of Vatican historians, to discover a truth tied to the fall of the Roman Empire, to a mystery going back to the very roots of Christianity, and to a weapon hidden for centuries that holds the true fate of humanity.

THE EYE OF GOD proves that James Rollins is the most provocative and prescient thriller writer writing today.

About James:

James Rollins is the bestselling author of eight Sigma Force thrillers (Sandstorm, Map of Bones, Black Order, The Judas Strain, The Last Oracle,The Doomsday Key, The Devil Colony and Bloodline), two connected novellas (The Skeleton Key and Tracker), the novelization of Lucasfilm's blockbuster movie, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, five individual adventure thrillers and The Blood Gospel, the first novel in a new series written with Rebecca Cantrell.

Known for building high-octane adventures on a solid science foundation, Rollins juxtaposes the familiar with the exotic and then turbo-charges his tales with suspense.  Always mindful of history's legacy, Rollins reveals how secrets, some hidden for centuries, can change the course of human events. His novels explore how advancing technology can affect society - not just the physical threats of unchecked advancements, but also the spiritual and moral challenges.

James Rollins decided to become a writer as a boy, immersed in the scientific adventures of Doc Savage, the wonders of Jules Verne and H.G. Wells, and pulps featuring The Shadow, The Spider, and The Avenger. He honed his storytelling skills early, spinning elaborate tales that often were at the heart of pranks played on his brothers and sisters.

Although his talent as a raconteur emerged and grew, writing was not Jim's original profession. Before he would set heroes and villains on harrowing adventures, he embarked on a career in veterinary medicine, graduating from the University of Missouri and establishing a successful veterinary clinic in Sacramento, California, where he still volunteers today. This hands-on knowledge of medicine and science helps shape the research and scientific speculation that set James Rollins books apart.
