2015 Annual SPMAO Golf Tournament

REGISTER TODAY!

Join us for our annual golf tournament at the Tangle Creek Golf Club on Thursday, September 24 for an opportunity to unwind with your fellow SPMAO colleagues following a busy pest management season.

Since opening in 2002, Tangle Creek has gained recognition as Barrie's No. 1 public golf Facility and one of the premier golf courses in the Greater Toronto Area. The all bent grass layout features four sets of tees measuring from 5,500 yards for beginners to 7,200 yards for the more serious player. Tangle Creek combines the best characteristics of classic and links style courses. The course features windswept fairways defined by strategic bunkering, mounding, grassy hollows and fescue. The course then transitions into a more traditional North American style with heavily forested holes, ponds, environmentally protected areas with immaculate course conditions.

Golfer Fee:

Bats in Buildings on Federal Land

In December of 2014, the Canadian Wildlife Service added three species of bats to Schedule 1 of the Species at Risk Act (SARA). Adding the three bat species to Schedule 1 as Endangered means that SARA general prohibitions concerning individuals (the three species of bats in this case) and their residences immediately apply on all federal lands. A list of buildings found on federal lands can be found here

SARA provides an exemption for activities related to public safety and health that are authorized by or under any other Act of Parliament or activities under the Health of Animals Act and the Plant Protection Act for the health of animals and plants. If this exemption does not apply and there is a risk of a contravention of SARA, people managing the presence of bats in buildings located on federal lands need to apply for a SARA permit.
