The Pest Management Techniques Program has been Approved

 

Sir Sanford Fleming College recently announced that the Pest Management Techniques program has been approved by the Ministry of Trades, Colleges, and Universities. 

 

SPMAO fully supports this program and is assisting with planning and certification modules that are included within the curriculum

 

The program will launch in January 2015 with a subsequent intake in September 2015. Students in the program will be looking for co-op placements in the summer of 2015 and January 2016. Member Benefits Discontinued with CNLA

 

After much discussion the board has voted to not continue with the benefits program through CNLA. The decision is based on a very small number of members (less than 10) using the benefits and the cost passed on to the overall membership. SPMAO will continue to look for meaningful benefits that meet the needs of the members, including those that did receive usage through the CNLA program. Carpet Beetles

 

Winter is the time of year when insects fade away from your customers' thoughts; they are no longer bombarded by mosquitoes, harassed by flies, or graced by the beauty of a passing butterfly.  During this quiet, reflective time they are bound to spend more time indoors and while doing so, might notice damage to natural fibers like wool, leather, carpet, fur, and even spices, corn, flour, and grains. Once your customers notice a little damage, they might quickly notice a lot and give you a call. The most likely culprit is the aptly named carpet beetle. Read more...

 

Structural Pesticide Licensing Preparation Course 

 

Pest Certified is offering a 3 day course October 20-22, 2014 that is designed to help students pass the Ministry of the Environment pesticides licensing exam. The course will review the Ontario Pesticides Act, safety protocols, IPM principals, math calculations for mixing and applying product, pest biology and habits, safe use and selection of pesticides.


Students need to apply for the licensing package which contains the study material prior to the course commencement.
