The Future of Hazardous Products Regulations
By CPMA

The Department of Health has proposed to repeal the Controlled Products Regulations (CPR) as well as other regulations and implement the Globally Harmonized Standard of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS) through a new set of regulations known as the Hazardous Products Regulations (HPR).  The government is proposing the revision to align Canada with important trading partners, especially the US, to recoup costs now wasted on relabeling import and export chemicals.

Though consultations are not complete, it is very likely GHS will be implemented by other regulatory agencies.  These include Transport Canada for the Transport of Dangerous Goods, and Health Canada for Consumer Chemical Products and Pest Control Products.  CPMA will follow these developments on GHS implementation closely to keep you up-to-date on how it will affect the pest management products you use everyday.
