Skipper Scoop
Updates from the RIVA
Skipper Division Supervisor- Jill Bloom

The 2014 Voyage is off to an amazing start in the Skipper Division!
We are so proud of our littlest campers. Their smiles and laughter is
contagious. The groups have fallen into routines and each one is enjoying
the many different activities they are offered.

The Skippers saw a show on Wednesday morning
about water safety. This was sponsored by Safe-t-Swim and we met new
friends- Sammy Starfish, Gilbert Guppy and Timmy Tadpole. We watched
a puppet show and learned from our new friends the major rules and steps that are necessary to keep us safer and to be aware of our surroundings in any open body of water.

On Thursday we had our July 4th celebration with a special visit from
Uncle Sam and Lady Liberty. It was so exciting to see them, pose for
pictures with them and answer their silly trivia questions for prizes! The
Skippers looked so patriotic in Red, White and Blue and we learned that
we were celebrating America's Birthday!

This was an unbelievable first week of camp and we can't wait till next
week...It's spirit week!!! Don't forget that it's "Masquerade Monday" this
coming Monday so have your children wear their most creative masks!
Also, please make sure everything is labeled!

What a great first week for the Navigators at RRDC!  On Monday, we reunited with our old friends and made some new ones. The entire division had a blast at Dave & Busters on our first trip of the summer.  Driving games and prizes are always a big hit!  Powerhouse Special Event on Thursday sure kept everyone excited and on the edge of our seats!  We are gearing up for Week #2 and all that is in store: visiting Mountain Creek (Action Park), heading off to Long Beach to enjoy some fun in the sun, Ice Skating for our 7th and 8th graders, and Adventureland for our 5th graders.  Navigators Intramurals started this week, and the games were fun-filled and competitive! We are excited to see how the season plays out!
