From the Chamber Board of Directors

Hi everyone. My name is Ken Wetstein, and I have the privilege to serve as the Chair of the Board for the Chamber this year. I work at Defiance College as the VP for Institutional Advancement, working closely with alumni and donors in cultivating support for the College.

I want to take a moment to update the membership on the Board's plans for the upcoming vacancy in the Chamber President position. After five years of outstanding service, our current President Isaac Lee will soon be joining the Chamber team in Toledo, OH. We wish him well and thank him for the great work he has done over the last five years. Isaac's last day with the Defiance Area Chamber of Commerce will be Friday, March 13, 2015. Please join me in wishing Isaac well in his new position.

We are launching the search for the next President of the Chamber on March 1, 2015 (there's a job posting in this e-newsletter inviting applications for the position). We will be advertising the position locally in the Crescent-News and also among the network of Chambers executives in Ohio and across the country. Application materials are due by March 20, 2015. A search committee made up of several members of the Chamber's Board of Directors will review the candidate materials and identify finalists for interviews. We hope to have the next President selected and in place before the end of April.

During the time between presidents, our Marketing & Events Coordinator, Erica Noggle, will handle the day-to-day operations of the Chamber. Erica will do an excellent job managing the operations of the Chamber during the transition. Isaac Lee is working closely with her to make sure the transition is seamless.

Please help us spread the word about this opening. This is an attractive opportunity for candidates: the Chamber has a steady and engaged membership; there is a supportive and active Board in place; and the business community values the Chamber as an important asset. Feel free to pass along the job advertisement to anyone you feel would be an excellent candidate. We are excited to see the level of interest in becoming the next President of the Defiance Area of Commerce.

If you have any questions or concerns about the Chamber and this important transition, do not hesitate to contact me at [email protected]
