February is American Heart Month, so in the spirit of promoting heart health, this month's "Ask
The Pharmacist" is dedicated to reviewing some cardiovascular considerations related to common
medications used in workers' comp. Heart-related side effects or precautions are briefly outlined
below where applicable for three of the top therapeutic classes (per the 2014 First Script Drug
Trends Analysis). This is only meant to serve as a general overview, and any specific questions or
cardiovascular concerns should be more fully reviewed with your health care professional such as
the prescribing doctor or pharmacist.
