There is little doubt that prescription drug abuse is a major public health concern. In an effort to reduce the misuse and abuse of
prescription opioids while still providing patients with adequate access to opioid medications, the FDA has begun working towards incentivizing the development of opioid medications with abuse-deterrent properties.
