Question:

Much of First Script literature including newsletters and bulletins speak to "evidence based" medicine. What is evidence based medicine? Aren't prescribers responsible to ensure they are following evidence based practices?

Answer:
Evidence Based Medicine (EBM), also known as  Evidenced Based Practice (EBP), is "the conscientious, explicit and judicious use of current best evidence in making decisions about the care of the individual patient. It means integrating individual clinical expertise with the best available external clinical evidence from systematic research." (Sackett D, 1996).

It is important to note that most patients will respond to protocols associated with EBM. However, not every patient is the same.
