The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has implemented its first nation-wide Pharmacy Benefits Management (PBM) and Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Program for workers' compensation. The program will be supported by the Office of Workers' Compensation Programs (OWCP), U.S. Department of Labor.
The national program will be for USDA employees who are injured on the job, and require prescription medications, DME, ancillary services, imaging, and other related tests.
"The USDA was seeking an experienced partner who specialized in federal workers' compensation to support our first national PBM & DME Program," said Ella McKoy, USDA Workers' Compensation Program Manager. "The goal of the program is to provide a more efficient way for our employees to obtain necessary services without any out-of-pocket expense while eliminating the need to save receipts or file reimbursement forms."
"We are innovators in the federal workers' comp space," said David Young, CEO of Coventry Workers' Comp Services. "Starting eight years ago, before this was on anyone else's radar, we specifically worked to develop programs that would benefit federal agencies and their injured workers," adding "Our proven track record for clinically managing appropriate utilization of prescriptions, DME, and ancillary services, while understanding the unique needs of the federal agencies is what sets us apart."
With more than three decades of experience in workers' compensation, Coventry will make a strong partner for the USDA. Coventry's national networks, clinical oversight, industry leading processes and superior analytic capabilities will allow the USDA to deliver outstanding service and impactful results.
