ASQLA MEMBER MEETING - April 9, 2014
Applying the Tools of Quality to Assure Educational
Excellence in Higher Education: A Case Study
Milt Krivokuca, DBA
Please join the ASQLA Section 0700 for its monthly member meeting on Wednesday, April 9. The meeting will be at Phenomenex in Torrance. This meeting is an opportunity to network with other Quality professionals and to learn about current techniques & technologies. Our guest speaker this month is Milt Krivokuca speaking on "Applying the Tools of Quality to Assure Educational Excellence in Higher Education: A Case Study "
The rapid advancements in technology challenges the higher education system in the United States to provide educational effectiveness to the next generation of professionals. Academic preparation is critical to sustaining the technological advances affecting our global society. Traditional models for higher education are struggling to keep pace with advances which may become obsolete before textbooks can be made available to students. Courses are being developed as new topics related to the needs of our global society emerge, and demand for individuals with expertise in these areas increases. Colleges and universities must continue to develop and to provide courses, and complete programs that meet the needs of our society.
This presentation is a case study of the behind the scenes planning and assessment of a technical program in higher education to assure that learning, using the fundamental tools of quality to assure learning, is taking place.
Milton Krivokuca DBA serves as the California State University Dominguez Hills' BSQA and MSQA Program Coordinator. He is the recent past chair of the ASQ-QMD and is the current president of Measurement Science Conference. ASQ has appointed him to chair an adhoc advisory committee to the ASQ TCC Administrative Committee and the ASQ Board of Directors for 2014. He has earned numerous professional certifications: CQIA, CMQ/OE, CQA, CQT, CQPA, CCT, CQE, CQI, CSSGB, CCT, RAB ISO:9000-2000 Auditor, CPM, and PCM. He is a senior member of ASQ Sections 700 and 701. In addition to instructing classes at CSUDH, he wrote the leadership chapter for the CMQ/OE Handbook 4th edition and has contributed to the ASQ CQ/OE, CQT, CQPA and CQI technical training modules. He earned his DBA in 2003 and has two master's degrees. He has delivered papers in Viet Nam, Jamaica, Hong Kong, Canada, China, and Dubai.
The program will be held at 2nd Floor Main Conference Room at Phenomenex, 2341 West 205th Street, Torrance, CA 90501. This meeting is an opportunity to network with other Quality Professionals, learn about quality related topics and earn 0.3 Recertification Units. Registration and networking starts at 5:30 PM. The meeting runs from 6:00 to 7:30 PM. Crackers, Cookies, Coffee and Water will be provided at no charge.
You MUST RSVP to Chen Low 310-334-7044, pager 310-353-8293 or e-mail ChenLow_88@hotmail.com, no-later-than Noon on Monday, March 7th, so he can get the list of attendees to Phenomenex Security.

Celebrating Awards
Elizabeth M. Keim was awarded the ASQ Los Angeles 2013 Simon Collier Quality Award at an event hosted by the Leadership Team on March 11, 2014.
