    ASQLA MEMBER MEETING - October 9, 2013

"Quality Jeopardy!"

Please join the ASQLA Section 0700 for its monthly member meeting on Wednesday, October 9th. The meeting will be at Mattel in El Segundo.  This meeting is an opportunity to network with other Quality professionals and to learn about current techniques & technologies. Our guest speakers this month is Joe Desimone speaking on "Quality Jeopardy."

Don't miss this opportunity to test your knowledge of the Quality / ASQ world and have fun at the same time!

Jeopardy, just like on T.V.!   But - with Quality Questions and people you know competing for prizes.

Three teams of 3 each will be chosen from the audience. They will play two rounds of Jeopardy and have a final question. The game will also feature two Ask the Audience "Lifelines" adapted from Millionaire!

Each team will have a buzzer, and a timer is used just like Alex. The quality & ASQ topics will be shown on a wall size projected screen, and will be selected by a "Vanna White"

After the above winning team is established, three more teams will be chosen and will play two rounds. Then the two final teams will have a showdown. They will face off with NO lifelines. The winning team will receive Certificates of Achievement and prizes.

This is a great wrap up session that can be done at the end of a conference, symposium or Member meeting.

Joe DeSimone, Past Chairman and Certification Chair of ASQ Los Angeles Section 0700, has conducted Quality Jeopardy at local ASQ Meetings and with his consulting clients. Joe is the Owner of DeSimone Quality International, www.dqi6sigma.com, a word-wide consulting group specializing in Quality and Productivity Improvements. DQI's clients include Honeywell, Northrop Grumman, Edwards Lifesciences, Rand Corporation, Mitsubishi, and many others.

The program will be held at 2nd Floor Main Conference Room at Mattel 333 Continental Boulevard El Segundo, CA 90245-5012. This meeting is an opportunity to network with other Quality Professionals, learn about quality related topics and earn 0.3 Recertification Units. Registration and networking starts at 5:30 PM. The meeting runs from 6:00 to 7:30 PM. Crackers, Cookies, Coffee & Water will be provided at no charge.

You MUST RSVP to Chen Low 310-334-7044, pager 310-353-8293 or e-mail [email protected], no-later-than Noon on Monday, October 7th, so he can get the list of attendees to Mattel Security.

Message from the Chair - Lane Parrott

October is National Quality Month! To celebrate we are going to have some fun with quality. Our October meeting will feature a rousing game of Quality Jeopardy. In case you do not know...Jeopardy! is an American television game show created by Merv Griffin. The show features a quiz competition in which contestants are presented with general knowledge clues in the form of answers, and must phrase their responses in question form.

Unfortunately Alex Trebek was not available for our National Quality Month Celebration. Not too worry our host and Emcee will be none other than past ASQLA Chairman, Joe DeSimone. Did someone mention prizes? Yes Virginia, there will be prizes.

During October ASQLA will sponsor two (2) ASQ Exam refresher courses, just in time for the December 7th Certification Exams:

  • CQE - Certified Quality Engineer - Starting October 12th
  • CQA - Certified Quality Auditor - Starting October 19th

BE ACKNOWLEDGED FOR YOUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS - If you have three (3) or more current ASQ Certifications and you attend our November Meeting, you will be awarded a Certificate of Achievement, an ASQLA coffee mug and a gift card.  Want to beef up your Resume - Join the section's Leadership Team. We are looking for enthusiastic dependable members who can help provide a meaningful experience for AQSLA Members. If you are interested, please send Chair Elect Catherine Martin an Email at [email protected].
