ASQLA MEMBER MEETING - June 12, 2013

"Carrying the Quality Torch for Your Company's Triple Bottom Line"

Please join the ASQLA 0700 for its monthly member meeting on Wednesday, June 12th. The meeting will be at Phenomenex, 2341 West 205th Street in Torrance.   Our speaker this month is Joyce Lewis will be speaking on "Carrying the Quality Torch for Your Company's Triple Bottom Line."This meeting is an opportunity to network with other Quality professionals and to learn about current techniques & technologies.

Are you being asked to carry the Quality torch for your company's triple bottom line?

Quality-trained professionals are increasingly called on to carry the torch of sustainability to reduce costs, demands on resources, and waste while increasing the reuse of existing assets and enabling lean operations through six sigma practices. Employing sustainable practices is critical to today's competitive business environment. At the strategy level, sustainability helps integrate and align strategic execution decisions, activities, and goals across multiple departments, partners and supply chains. But what does that mean for a Quality professional?

Led by APICS Master CPIM Instructor Joyce Lewis and based on research conducted by APICS E&R Foundation, the workshop will give each participant a better understanding of:

  • avoiding pitfalls that most Quality professionals and operations staff experience in implementing a "triple bottom line" focus
  • identifying quick successes as well as developing long-range strategies you and your employer can implement for success in achieving sustainable operations measuring and improving your sustainable strategy's results.

Joyce Lewis's career experience spans the entire global business value chain from strategy development, new product introduction, marketing, operations, quality training programs, and all aspects of supply chain management. She has frequently led program & ERP implementations for mega-growth manufacturers in high-tech industries, specifically focused in process development and employee education programs for Fortune 200 companies.

Joyce remains an active member on the APICS Los Angeles Chapter Board of Directors and has served as President of APICS Phoenix Chapter. She is designated as Master Instructor for APICS CPIM, CSCP, and Instructor Training modules, as well as Associate for Global Sourcing, Lean Enterprise, and Principles modules by APICS The Educational Society for Resource Management. She holds APICS CPIM, APICS CSCP, and ISM Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.) certifications. Joyce represents APICS Los Angeles Chapter at educational institutions such as USC, ASU (AZ) and Thunderbird (AZ) and provides students with guidance on career paths related to resource management.

Joyce holds an MAEd from University of Phoenix, a B.S. in Purchasing & Logistics from ASU, and received the Outstanding Graduating Senior Award for both the ASU-SCM Department and College of Business (now W.P. Carey School of Business) upon graduation.  Her engaging instruction has earned her a "triple-award" as APICS Phoenix Chapter Instructor of the Year in 2012, 2011, 2008, as well as APICS Los Angeles Chapter Instructor of the Year in 2013 and 2012.

The program will be held at 2nd Floor Main Conference Room at Phenomenex 2341 West 205th Street Torrance, CA 90501. This meeting is an opportunity to network with other Quality Professionals, learn about quality related topics and earn 0.3 Recertification Units. Registration and networking starts at 5:30 PM. The meeting runs from 6:00 to 7:30 PM. Crackers, Cookies, Coffee & Water will be provided at no charge.
