Many Gardiner Angus Ranch customers share our common philosophy regarding beef production. These customers are professional cow-calf producers allied with the GAR philosophy and committed to the discipline required to produce seedstock with added value throughout the food chain.

As the beef industry makes scientific progress through the development of molecular breeding values and marker assisted EPDs, Gardiner Angus Ranch and its allied producers will aggressively use the data to develop new and better programs, offer more services and continue producing superior Angus genetics.

Since this is our 10th fall sale, we thought it would be a good time to look back and see the progress made since our first fall sale. This offering ranks in the top 10% of the Angus breed for CED and YW. The offering ranks in the top 2% of the breed for end product merit. By using all available technology and disciplined selection, CED has improved 64%, BW has reduced 62%, YW has increased 71% and $Beef has increased by 67% since our first fall sale in 2005. The current catalog is available at www.GardinerAngus.com as well as an Excel spreadsheet with current data.

This group of commercial heifers are due to calve in late Jan. and early Feb. The heifers will sell in groups of 10. The heifers have been genomic tested with GeneMax Focus and ultrasounded to determine the sex of the calf. Calf sex and GMX scores are listed in the catalog. Heifers are bred to GAR Sunrise or GAR Daylight. Videos can be seen here.

Approximately 440 head of Profit Proven GAR-influenced commercial females sell immediately following the GAR commercial heifers.

This is the 12th year a select group of Gardiner Angus Ranch commercial customers have joined forces to present an impressive group of commercial females sired by sons of GAR sires and bred to GAR sires or sons of GAR sires. Ranch of origin information and videos are available in the catalog or here.

Educational Forum September 28:
Technology Two-Step Project Final Summary

LiveAuctions.TV will webcast live the educational forum Sunday evening, beginning at 5:00 p.m. Tom Brink, Top Dollar Angus, Inc., will present the final summary of the Technology Two-Step Project (Tech II). Tech II is a joint project between Gardiner Angus Ranch and Zoetis Genetics. Tech II documents the rapid genetic progress that can be achieved using high growth/high carcass value Angus sires on females with limited marbling potential. More information can be found here.

We had the opportunity to visit GAR commercial customer Ross Humphreys this summer at San Rafael Ranch, Patagonia, Ariz. Ross and his wife, Susan Lowell, have applied the same best business practices to San Rafael as they practice in all their business endeavors. Under Humphrey's ownership, this century old ranch is maximizing genetics and environment. Watch the full interview with Ross on our website.

GAR Welcomes Fall Interns
Kayla Sandoval (left) is a senior at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, Calif., and Krystal Martinez (right) is a senior at Kansas State University from Garden City, Kan.

Kayla and Krystal arrived at the ranch just in time to begin ultrasounding, fall calving and breeding! We are very pleased with their willingness to "hit the ground running" and tackle many tasks in a short amount of time.

Henry C. Gardiner Lecture, January 26, 2015

The second Henry C. Gardiner Lecture is scheduled for Monday evening, January 26, 2015, at McCain Auditorium, Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kan.
