Inflation Adjustments for Certain Thresholds in 2013
With the recent passing of the American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012 not only was the estate and gift tax and alternative minimum tax (AMT) permanently extended, but they will also be indexed to keep up with inflation. This eliminates the need to pass a short term "patch" each year.
Below is a breakdown on how the thresholds will look after being adjusted for 2013:
Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT)

Single Taxpayers $50,600
Married filing separately $39,375
2013
Married Filing jointly $80,800
Single Taxpayers $51,900
Married filing separately $40,400
Lifetime Estate and Gift Limitations
