The next three weeks bring many changes to the roadway between 48th Avenue and Lincoln. As you pass by, you will see that it is very busy and crews are making preparations to grind and pave this important stretch of road to bring a beautiful new path of travel for San Franciscans, commuters and visitors.
Up Ahead
This and next week crews are performing base repair* work in several areas from Point Lobos/48th to Balboa (starting at the top and working down). This work requires traffic reroutes and some lane closures.
* There are several sections along the Great Highway that need base repairs before the new roadway can be poured. Some sections are as small as 500 square feet, and some up to 2,500 square feet.
Week of May 6th
Construction work will intensify as crews will begin to grind and pave the roadway from Point Lobos/48th to Balboa. This will take about two days and then they will pave the roadway from Point Lobos/48th to Balboa, which takes another two days or so.
Then work is planned to shift to grind and pave between the roadway from Balboa to Lincoln. There will be some work performed on Saturday, May 11th and paving work is expected to be wrapped up by the beginning of the week of May 13th.
The timeframe for substantial completion of paving, curb and median work from 48th all the way down to Lincoln is still targeted for the week of May 13th.
