Thank you for signing up for the Great Highway Improvement Project Newsletter. Here you will get regular updates on Great Highway construction, project milestones and useful traffic alerts.
As you may know already, the Great Highway will be repaved from Point Lobos to Sloat Boulevard ( map), and streetscape improvements will be made to the stretch of road along the Golden Gate Park at Ocean Beach between Fulton and Lincoln. This is a nine month project.
This first part of the work will be a water main replacement from Point Lobos to Balboa, and a crew will work from the top of the hill down. There is also a crew performing a main replacement starting at Lincoln heading north. Both of these phases should last 60 days total. Traffic will remain open in both directions.
More details and updates will be coming soon. Email with any questions or issues, or call 415-554-6930. |

"This exciting project really emphasizes the power of collaboration. Plans for the Great Highway renovation were developed in partnership with the community and local, regional and federal agencies," said Mohammed Nuru, Director of the Department of Public Works. "DPW is pleased to break ground on this important project that would not have been made possible without the generous support of voters in the Richmond and Sunset districts and other neighborhoods throughout the City."
