Greetings, MUMC Friends!
Sorry this week's is being sent out so late: my eyes have been glued to the news for the past few hours.
The sermon this week comes at an unfortunate time. Let us continue to pray for all the victims and their families, give thanks for all the brave police and other officials, and that some peace and healing may come.
This week we are implementing something new on our website:
In case you haven't taken a look around, we have a discussion forum feature. To se the forums, you must be registered as an online member, and logged in.
During the rest of our "Get in Shape" sermon series, we encourage you to log on and share your thoughts, and tell us about how you are getting in shape, physically and spiritually!
You can get there by going to the "Discipleship" tab, then choosing "Discussion Forums." You can also go to www.MasonUMC.org/forums.
Hope you have a great Saturday, and I look forward to seeing you Sunday!
Peace,
Ben Wong
Director of Communications

From Pastor Dale:
"'The church is not a building, the church is not a steeple, the church is not a resting place, the church is a people.'
This hymn, written as a children's song in 1972, has a more powerful message than may be at first evident. Those are powerful words.
On the day of Pentecost (celebrated this year on 5/21), the followers of Jesus were all gathered in one place praying and waiting. Jesus had promised that once he left earth following his resurrection the Holy Spirit would empower his people.
On that day the church came into being. The first thing the newly formed community did was go out into the street, into the gathering crowd, and share the Good News of Jesus.
They did not keep it to themselves. They did not have a study to talk about it. They did not stay in the building and call it church. They did not shut the door. They began a movement that changed the world and history along with it.
I want to be part of a world-changing movement of God's Spirit in 2013 and beyond! That excites me! That captures my imagination!"

| Stephen Ministry Training Update | | |
Here is what our Stephen Ministry Trainees are studying this week. Continue to pray for our Trainees as their training nears completion.
Supervision: A Key to Quality Christian Care
Stephen Ministers receive twice-monthly supervision once they begin providing care, and this is the first of two sessions on this important topic. Supervision ensures that Stephen Ministers provide the best care possible, yet is done in a way that keeps the identity of the care receiver and details of his or her situation completely confidential.

| UMC Missions Update | | |
- FAITH Ministries (emergency relief for local families)
- Hispanic Ministries (working with Hamilton Mission and Esperanza Viva)
- Water Wells, reforestation, and sanitation for impoverished people in Nicaragua
- Disaster relief through UMCOR and the global United Methodist Church
In addition to needing funds these mission priorities need you. God calls us to use our resources to serve the least and the lost with our gifts, our prayers, and our service.
This Sunday, April 21st, there will be Missions Giving envelopes outside the doors of the sanctuary in the Narthex. Please make a financial contribution to Missions in these envelopes (or mark your checks "for Missions") and then drop it at the front desk or send to the church. In addition to your financial giving to missions, your prayers and your willingness to serve in community with others are also needed. Watch your bulletin, e-news, and the informational screens at church for ways you can personally respond. Next up is a Matthew 25 Ministries service day, April 27th.
