Comment Period Closing on Proposed Changes to the 2530 Regulations

On August 10th, HUD published a proposed rule change to Previous Participation reporting (commonly known as the HUD 2530).   

HUD is urging industry partners to read the Proposed Rule  and to supply feedback. 

You can submit your comments AND view comments that others have already submitted by clicking this link to the Federal eRulemaking Portal.

Comments from industry stakeholders will be reviewed and considered by HUD as they work to shape The Final Rule.

The deadline to submit comments is Friday, October 9th.

We applaud HUD's efforts to transform the Previous Participation Review process.  It is evident that HUD's desire is to reduce the workload burden for Previous Participation reporting, simplify the reporting process, and limit the number of principals who require such review. 

The Proposed Rule is a good first step.  There is much that HUD has done right with the Proposed Rule, but in our opinion, there are still areas that need work. You can view Murphy Consulting's comments to the Proposed Rule here.

 Key Code Letter Improvements coming!

HUD has announced that it is planning to replace the dreaded Activation Key Code Letter system with an emailing protocol.  HUD is pursuing funding, proceeding with the internal approval process and addressing system functionality.

Please understand, it could be quite a while before we see any changes, as these process take time to implement.

REAC  TAC

The REAC TAC (also known as the REAC Help Desk) has transitioned to a new vendor.  The efficiency of support available to callers this summer was a bit spotty due to transition activities and staffing changes, but we are happy to report that their stellar service to HUD's industry partners has been restored.

The REAC TAC support line is available from 7:30am until 8:30pm eastern time at 1-888-245-4860  

This free service assists Users with ID issues, as well as FASS, REAC or PIC needs.
