Thinking about Hiring A Personal Trainer?
Going to the gym, jogging or sweating to a Zumba video can be a rewarding experience. But are you getting all the benefits your body needs? For many people, hiring a skilled personal trainer may be a better solution..
There are many reasons to justify the expense:
1. Trainers are Excellent Goal-Setters
Let's face it, we all have some sort of body agenda. Whether it's "building this up" or "trimming that down," as opposed to relying solely on ourselves, a good trainer can be there to help you create and attain (within reason) the body you've always wanted.
2. Trainers Provide Motivation
Trainers know how people have a tendency to slack off, so they have a vested interest in making sure you not only reach your goals, but that you're actually accountable for them. This is much more effective than depending on a spouse or friend, who may be going through issues of their own.
3. Trainers Are Experts in Muscle Mechanics
No sense in targeting a muscle group by doing the wrong exercise. You could be wasting your time, or worse, risking serious injury. A good personal trainer will watch closely to ensure that you are doing the exercises properly to maximize your end results and target your intended muscle groups.
4. Trainers Will Push You, But Not Break You
Unlike when you may feel you've had enough (possibly not completing your workout,) a good trainer knows when you've reached your limit. Given that you're paying for this coach, you can now benefit from alternative exercises, that only he or she can show you, that may get you there with less pain, more gain and perhaps more fun than you've ever experienced.
5. Personalized, Custom-Made Workouts
Whether it's getting you in the right frame-of-mind, increasing your lung-capacity or busting out those biceps, your trainer will set up a schedule, and special exercises, just for your particular body-type. This is also beneficial since it prevents you from becoming stale by doing the same movements over and over.
There are many other reasons to explore personal trainers. The bottom line: if you really want to look and feel the very best you can, there is simply no better way.

Over-Looked Tax Breaks
Our Uncle Sam is constantly cutting out many historical, and favorable, tax breaks. Be sure to capitalize on the ones still available, while you still can.
Here are some tools you can use to fight back!
1. State Sales Taxes Some assume that this tax break expired ... and it does regularly ... but only to be congressionally reinstated. For our 2013 returns, however, we're good to go!
2. Out-of-pocket charitable deductions
It's hard to overlook the big charitable gifts you made during the year, especially when you pay by check or payroll deduction, but what about the out-of-pocket donations you make at the grocery store or the time you put in with charities (not to mention mileage, and the foods and gifts you prepared for them.) This can all add up, and most of it may be deductible..
Millions of unemployed Americans were looking for a job in 2013. So hopefully you kept track of your job-search expenses ... or can reconstruct them. If you're looking for a position in the same line of work, you can deduct job-hunting costs as miscellaneous expenses if you itemize.

 Ask an Agent
Q: My mother is getting frail and needs to have professional care. I can't do it anymore since I don't have nursing skills and will soon have to move across country for a new job. Is there any way to cash in her life insurance policy for this? -Sandra D, San Jose, CA
A: You may not believe this, but that's one of the things more and more people are doing. It's either that or coming out of pocket with thousands of dollars each month for care.
Just last year, Congress introduced legislation that would give chronically ill patients the opportunity to turn their life insurance policies into cash for their care. If your mother currently owns a life insurance policy; whether it be a term or permanent one, she can agree to trade it in for a Long-term Care Benefit Fund. With this fund, she'll never have to pay any more life premiums and she's practically guaranteed a per-determined amount (based on her health and the current death benefit of the policy.)
There are no fees to do this, and she can use the money for any form of long-term care (in-home, assisted living or nursing care.)
For more information on this benefit, please contact us by phone or email.
