Construction has begun on the new building owned and being built by Jewell Homes on the corner of Lannon and Janesville Roads. Community Service Announcement:
The County has asked that we spread the word (remember, we are just the messenger here) that folks should use caution if they are putting any signage up along the newly constructed area of Janesville Road as there are fragile irrigation lines buried underground that may be easily punctured and damaged.
Do have business news to share? Send it to us with your business news via email to Deb Skurulsky. We will share it in future eblasts and on Facebook. Be sure to tell your customers, friends, and family to "like" the Chamber's Facebook page in order to keep up on local business happenings. |

Kudos Corner
Thank you to Steve Schreck of Allstate Insurance - Steve Schreck Agency for all of your hard work and dedication to making the Chamber's annual golf outing a huge success. Steve has once again stepped up to serve as co-chair of the Golf Outing Planning Committee. He is personally busy recruiting sponsors for this event and working on the details of the golf competition to make sure that it is enjoyed by all of the golfers.
If you are interested in being a sponsor, a golfer, attending the "dinner only" that follows the golf outing, or volunteering to help with the event, e-mail Deb or call 414-422-1155.
Thanks, Steve, for your hard work and support of the Chamber and the community!

It is our turn to be the hostess with the mostest...
Okay, obviously I am using a made-up word and frustrating spellcheck, but I think that is allowed as a way to get your attention.
The Muskego Chamber is hosting the next two A.B.L.E. South Lunches. These are networking lunches attended by members of 6 area chambers: Brookfield, Greenfield, South Suburban (Franklin and Oak Creek), Wauwatosa, West Allis/West Milwaukee and us. A.B.L.E. stands for "Active Business Leads Exchange."
Why should you attend? - This is a prime opportunity for you to market your business outside of Muskego.
- Meet and make new business contacts with key business people from surrounding communities.
- Enjoy a great lunch at one of Muskego's newest eating establishments: The Suburban Bourbon. (The menu will be different on each date.)
- Learn about and support our Chamber members that will be the featured presenters: Shelly Bird of Shelly Bird Custom Interiors & Design on July 15 and Chrissy Slaske of Spectrum Communications on July 29.
The cost is only $12 for registration by noon of the prior Friday, or $15 at the door. Registration and open networking begins at 11:30 AM, with lunch and the meeting starting promptly at noon. For more information or to register click here.
I look forward to seeing you at one, if not both, of the A.B.L.E. South lunches that we are hosting!

Ways to Keep the Home Cool in Summer
It is officially that time of year! Temperatures are on the rise and we're all looking for ways to keep cool. You may be tempted to crank the thermostat down, but what do you do when your home isn't properly equipped to deal with the scorching temps? We'd prefer to spend our money on fun activities this summer, not subsidize the electric company with a hefty portion of your paycheck.
So, here are some easy ways to keep your home cool without breaking the bank on energy bills:
- Don't use the dryer. Drying clothes on an outdoor clothesline can prevent additional off-put heat from your appliances.
- Turn off the tv. Turn off your television and other electronic devices when not in use. It if can be plugged in, it can generate heat.
- Use the grill. Instead of the oven or stovetop, fire up the grill or use a slow cooker. Try adapting the cooking method so you keep the heat out of your kitchen.
- Block afternoon sun out. Try incorporating an extra tree or two in your yard to provide some shade, or utilize some outdoor blinds or awnings. Energy efficient blackout curtains are also a great alternative. Even hanging baskets will block some sun.
