State Network Conference -
Keynote Announced
Anne Schink, ABS Consulting

We're very excited to announce that Anne Schink will be our subject expert keynote for this year's State Network Conference

Anne Schink is a consultant in volunteer management, training, and facilitation offering services to nonprofit organizations, public entities, and faith-based organizations. For the past four years she has taught workshops on volunteer management, board and organizational development, provided coaching in nonprofits and facilitated public policy debates and task forces.

From 1995 to 2009 Anne was the Program/Training/Disability Officer at the Maine Commission for Community Service. During that time she worked directly with AmeriCorps program directors, staff, and members (including our Manager of Agency Services, Jeremy Hammond) to strengthen programs through training and technical assistance. She organized conferences, training events, and small meetings. Anne has also provided professional coaching support to program directors and staff on grants management, program design, goals, objectives, and evaluation. She supported programs to recruit, retain, and include individuals with disabilities in all parts of the AmeriCorps programs.

In 2007 Anne received the CVA designation from the Council on Certification in Volunteer Administration.

Anne is a member of the national board of the League of Women Voters. She serves on the InforME Board which supports the State of Maine's development of e-government and e-commerce web portal at www.maine.gov

The purpose of the State Network Conference is to support agency staff and volunteers who are on the front lines of hunger relief and engage with each other to share ideas, challenges, and best practices.

Registration for the State Network Conference is now open. The early bird registration fee is only $25!

It's Farm Share Season
More opportunities for fresh produce

Senior Farm Share is about to start! The farm share program allows income-eligible seniors to get fresh foods directly from farmers through farm stands or farmers' markets. In addition to helping meet the need of consumers, it's important to also reduce that need, or "shorten the line" by connecting folks with other sources of nutritious food!

Information on eligibility and how to apply is available at the following link: bit.ly/XTg8zY

Please share this information with your senior consumers!
Volunteers Needed
Hunger in America 2014 - the nationwide survey of the emergency food system will only be successful with your help.

Every four years, Feeding America conducts its nationwide survey of Hunger in America. We'll be surveying pantry/kitchen clients all over the state and we rely on the support of volunteers for this endeavor. Please consider volunteering to help with the survey and/or sharing this opportunity with your agency volunteers and members of your community.

Data Collectors:

Volunteers are needed to visit food pantries and meal sites to administer a survey of the program's clients. Training and electronic tablets will be provided.  Must be over the age of 18.

Internship:  In addition to acting as a Data Collector at pantries and meal sites, the Volunteer Data Collector Intern will act as a volunteer coordinator for the survey, managing the support of the data collector volunteers as well as helping prepare materials and working with the Hunger Study Coordinator.  Must be over the age of 18 and willing to commit 4 days a week to the project between April and August.

If you are interested in participating or would like to recommend someone for either of these positions and need more information, please be in touch with Hunger Study Coordinator Danielle Carr at [email protected] or 207-782-3554.
