MLHS Cadet Band Receives Superior Rating at Fine Arts Festival

The members of the MLHS Cadet Band (band students in grades 6-8) recently participated in the Lutheran School Fine Arts Festival, held on Friday, April 25th, at Trinity Lutheran School in St. Joseph.  They earned a blue-ribbon rating of "Superior" on their performance as a group.

We also had two soloists perform this year - Mackenzie Zabel on Alto Saxophone (an 8th grader from Grace, St. Joseph) and Meg Stangl on Flute (a 6th grader from St. Paul's, Stevensville), and both of them also received ratings of "Superior" on their solos.

Congratulations to all of our Cadet Band members on the faithful use of their God-given musical gifts!

Congratulations to Michigan Lutheran CW Tech team members:  Nathan Arend, Cody Laughlin, Harmonie Morgan, Josh Nolte, Noah Russell, and Vince Skorupa for another very successful season. The team finished the World Championship qualifying matches 30th of 100 world teams in the Archimedes division. Our strong individual showing resulted in being picked by the number 4 seed team to form an Elimination Rounds alliance. Our alliance lost in the semi-final round after two very tough and close matches to the eventual Archimedes division Champions.

Prism Concert Series:

The annual MLHS Prism Concerts will be held on Saturday May 17th at 7 PM, and Sunday, May 18th at 3 PM.  The yearly Prism Concert gives our students the opportunity to present a variety of secular music to our MLHS family.  No tickets are sold or reservations taken.  Seating is offered on a first-come basis and a free will offering to support our Music Department will be taken.  This is an excellent opportunity to invite relatives or friends to share with you the enjoyable experience of MLHS using their God-given talents in a wide variety of ways.  Plan to attend and invite others to come with you for one or both of the concerts.  This is a highlight of our year!

2014 Graduation Commencement

2014 Graduation Commencement exercises for the Class of 2014 will take place on Sunday, May 25, 2014 at 3:00 PM.  As in the past, we will hold a worship service to thank God for the gifts he has bestowed on these young people and to ask His blessings on their future endeavors.  After the conclusion of the service, we will hold the graduation ceremony, which has always been a little less reverent with picture taking, occasional applause, and the like.  The valedictorians speak and the senior anthem completes the ceremony.  Families of seniors will receive a letter outlining the procedure for graduation (dress, times, preparation, etc...)  Feel free to call the school office with your questi
ons.

ATTENTION SENIORS and PARENTS

This is just a reminder that there will be a $25.50 fee for graduation caps and gowns for which each of our seniors was measured.  They can be picked up from the ML Office beginning May 12.  Robes should be taken out of the wrap and hung on a hanger immediately so that they are not wrinkled for commencement services.
