MISSION STATEMENT

Michigan Lutheran High School provides a Christ-centered secondary education to prepare young adults for lives of Christian service in their churches, workplaces, communities, the world, and for life with their Lord in eternity.

Art Show at the Box Factory

Congratulations to Sam Sievert for winning the BRESA Art Scholarship at the Regional High School Art Show

The Show will be up through April 16th. Stop by and see the art work exhibited from MLHS students and from many area schools during the Box Factory regular business hours.

Be an International Ambassador

Your help is needed in the upcoming months. Please consider opening your hearts and homes to one of our international students. Various levels of hosting opportunities are available and, in some instances, you will receive adequate compensation to offset any extra costs incurred in doing so. Sophomore Work Days

Beginning In April, our Sophomore class will help you out! Please call MLHS and let us know your job, how large of a crew you'd like, the location of the job, how long you think the job will take, and if we need to bring tools (yard waste bags NOT included). Saturday, April 5 or Saturday, April 12 are the days when the sophomores will be available.

Spring Sports Begin

Baseball, softball, and lady titan soccer have begun. The opener for baseball and softball is April 8 vs. Eau Claire. The opener for Titan girls soccer is April 10 in Bridgman. Go Titans! All the Spring Sports Schedules have been posted on our website: michiganlutheran.org/activities/athletics

2014 Athletics Plant Sale

Baseball, soccer, and softball team members are selling certificates redeemable at Barbott's Farm and Greenhouse in Stevensville as their spring fundraiser. Baskets, flats, and sets of four pots are available in many varieties. Each team has a specific sale goal to meet in order to receive their new team items.

Titan Football Workouts

It's not too late to come to football workouts! Start training for next fall every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday through the Spring at MLHS. If you have any questions, contact Coach Rich Zeiger (269) 325-1858.

BLOOD DRIVE AT MLHS

On Saturday, April 12 our National Honor Society is hosting a blood drive from 11 am - 5 pm at Michigan Lutheran High School. Please put this on your calendar and donate as you are able.

Selective Service Registration

Federal law says that all 18-year-old men must register with Selective Service within 30 days of their 18th birthday. Registration takes only a few minutes and can be accomplished by visiting www.sss.gov. For additional information, call 1-847-688-6888. Failure to register can lead to fines, prison, or withholding of college grants.

Financial Office Closed

The MLHS financial office will be closed March 28 - April 7. The Great Lakes Scrip Office will be closed from Monday, April 7 through Friday, April 11. There will be no Scrip orders placed either of those weeks. An order will be submitted on Monday April 14 when GLSC opens again.

SCRIP PROGRAM

Again this year, parents who participate in the Scrip program will split the profits generated with Michigan Lutheran. Specifically, 50% of the profits will be applied to the student's tuition; the other 50% will be kept by ML for current expenses. Relatives and friends may help increase an ML parent's order by having their orders placed on the ML parent's order form. If you have questions, please call Mrs. Bette Otte at 429-7861, ex. 212.

Scrip orders need to be turned in by 9:00 am on Mondays. These orders will normally be available for pickup by Thursday of the same week. Orders placed after 9:00 am may not be available until the following week.

ROBOTICS UPDATE

Congratulations to your CW Tech Robotics Team for another successful competition at Purdue University. After a couple rough beginning matches, the team ended the qualifying matches with a very strong performance. Based on these performances, the Robotarians were chosen by the number 3 seeded team to form an elimination tournament alliance. Our alliance succeeded in defeating the number six and number two seeded alliances to reach the final where we lost in two very close matches. CW Tech was also presented with the Hard Hat Safety award. Come see us this Friday and Saturday when we compete at St. Joseph High School.

First Robotics has an app that will allow you to follow all the action with a schedule, match results, and rankings. The name of the app is FRC SPYDER

Camp Lor-Ray Kids' Camp

Summer Camp registration is now open for camps for preschool to high school campers. Register soon to receive a $25 discount! There are additional discounts for families and for inviting new campers. We are also seeking summer staff: Pastors/Bible leaders, adult counselors,cooks, nurses, etc.

Our summer theme is "Jesus Only" from Matthew 17:8 "When they had lifted up their eyes, they saw noone but Jesus only" (NKJV/ESV). We'll be focusing on the 2nd person of the Trinity and what it means to carry our crosses as young disciples of Christ. Camp Lor-Ray is located near Muskegon, MI on 165 acres of forest land with a private lake. It assists ELS and WELS churches by providing a Christ-Centered recreation environment for youth and families. Register and apply at

ATTENTION GRADUATING CLASS OF 2014

The 2014 Michigan Lutheran High School Commencement Service will be on Sunday, May 25 in the ML Gymnasium. It is this same weekend that the Senior PGA Tournament will be in the area. This will be a busy time; therefore, hotels/motels will need to be rented in advance. Please make plans early in order to adequately find sleeping arrangements for extended family that will be in the area during this important time.

TITAN POWERLIFTING

Over the past year, the ML women's powerlifting team has had 28 dedicated members lift either once or twice a week. The main purpose of the lifting is to prevent injuries, but the ML ladies have also been able to participate in the State Powerlifting Regional and State Championships. This past season the powerlifting team was featured on the front page of the Herald Palladium and on Channel 22 WSBT CBS out of South Bend. In competition, the ladies placed 3rd as a team in regionals. Courtney Burnett, Sarah Cramer, Miranda Tolsma, Anna Pelkey, Grace Barner, Samantha Rock, Makenzie Zabel, and Sara Moncrieff all made it to the State Championships March 7th. All eight ladies set their personal records in total weight lifted, and Sarah Cramer placed 8^th in the state.

The powerlifting team would like to thank God for providing a school, family, and supporters who encourage the young ladies to reach their goals and to serve as examples to other young ladies.

Powerlifting is open to any 7^th through 12^th grader that attends any Lutheran elementary school or Michigan Lutheran. It is never too late to join; we have had seniors in high school join their senior year. Lift sessions are normally Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon and during summer months.
