Titan Football Workouts Begin...

Registration for Class of 2018


If you have a student currently in eighth grade and would like to enroll them as a

freshman at MLHS for the upcoming school year, we are now accepting

applications. Please share this information with members of your congregation,

people in your neighborhood, or with friends or family that you think would be

interested in learning about our Christ-centered secondary high school. If you

have any questions, please contact Mr. Herbst or call the school office for an

information packet and application form.  Our website now has a page set up just

for the Class of 2018.  Check it out for steps to registration, important dates, as

well as for opportunities to learn more about MLHS. 



 

 

 ALL-SCHOOL WINTERFEST DECORATING February 8, 2014

All MLHS Students are invited to decorate the halls of MLHS for Winterfest Weekend.  The school will be open from 9 AM until 10 PM on Saturday for decorating.  This is a great class bonding activity and we hope many of the students take advantage of it!

 RETRO REVAMP Winterfest (cartoons) 2014

 

 

Winterfest Banquet

Tickets will be on sale from Jan. 25th - Feb. 10th at home basketball games.  You may reserve tickets by calling the MLHS office at 269-429-7861 ext. 201.  Also, watch for tickets to be available at your church.  A ticket is needed for all people to eat on Friday night.  The Banquet will be served at 6:00 PM, and entertainment will follow.

People arriving for the program at 7:00 PM do not need a ticket.  The program includes skits by all four of the classes, introduction of the sports teams, and crowning of the 2014 Winterfest Prince and Princess!

Tickets are $11 for adults, $9 for high school, $7 for grade school, Free for K and under 

The full course meal includes; fried chicken, baked ham, au gratin potatoes, buttered corn, seven layer salad, assorted rolls & butter, coffee, punch, and assorted pies.

 WINTERFEST ALUMNI AUCTION

MLHS Alumni Association is now accepting items and donations for their silent auction, held during the "Winterfest 2014" weekend on February 14th & 15th. Items and donations can be dropped off at the high school or with any of the alumni officers. Some items that have sold well in past auctions are gift baskets, new furniture, new appliances, new holiday items, new children's items, food & fruit items/certificates, gift certificates, electronic items, sporting goods, sporting event tickets, and books. The Alumni Association is requesting that all donations be new items. Please contact one of the Alumni officers if you have any questions regarding your donations. When donating any item, the Alumni Association would ask that you respect their judgment on placing any donated item in the auction. Items being donated can be dropped off at the school office during regular operating hours.

If you plan on making a monetary donation, please make checks out to "MLHS Alumni Association Silent Auction 2014" in care of Keith Hafer. Checks can be mailed directly to the high school address - 615 E. Marquette Woods Rd., St. Joseph, MI 49085.

Selective Service Registration


Federal law says that all 18-year-old men must register with Selective Service within 30 days of their 18th birthday.  Registration takes only a few minutes and can be accomplished by visiting www.sss.gov.  For additional information, call 1-847-688-6888.  Failure to register can lead to fines, prison, or withholding of college grants.

SENIOR PARENTS ~ HAVE YOU STARTED YOUR FAFSA?
It is time for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  This is a form that must be completed if your child needs help in financing college.  Colleges use this information to determine financial aid for scholarships, grants, loans, etc. Remember, if you don't have your exact income for 2013, you can estimate and correct the amount at a later date.You must file in Michigan between January 1, 2014 and March 1, 2014.  You must begin the process by procuring a PIN.  You get this by going to www.fafsa.ed.gov .

   

  

 


College Goal Sunday

Southwestern Michigan College - Sunday February 9, 2-4 PM

Free Financial Aid and Advising will be available at the Barbara Wood Building at SMC's Dowagiac campus.   This is the day where you can get free help filling out the Federal Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which is required to get financial aid from any college.  Financial aid professionals will be available for questions about financial aid resources, admissions requirements and more.

 

These are the things you will need to bring with you:  Social security numbers, income tax returns, driver's license, W-2 forms or other records of money earned, any 2013 untaxed income records, 2013 bank statements, 2013 business and investment mortgage information, business and farm records, stock, bond, and other investment records.

 

Before you attend, it is highly advised that you obtain a PIN number.  Go to pin.ed.gov to get yours now, and don't forget to bring it with you!

 

ANNOUNCEMENT for ACT PREP COURSE

  

The ACT ... if you struggle with the ACT, are unprepared to take the ACT, or simply cannot spell "ACT," then help is on the way.

Dr. Scott Carlin, learning specialist from the University of Notre Dame and founder of Michiana Test Prep, is offering an ACT Prep Course for a fraction of the cost.  Dr. Carlin has 5 (FIVE)upcoming ACT Prep Courses  in this area including options at both the Lake Michigan College (Napier) and LMC Bertrand Crossing campuses as well as Niles High School.

Improve your test-taking strategy and increase your content knowledge of all 4 ACT sections (ENGLISH, MATH, READING, & SCIENCE).  Get a better score, make yourself happier, make your parents prouder, and increase your chances of going to the college you really want to.

Camp Lor-Ray Kids' Camp  

 Summer Camp registration is now open for camps for preschool to high school campers.  Register soon to receive a $25 discount! There are additional discounts for families and for inviting new campers! We are also seeking summer staff: Pastors/Bible leaders, adult counselors,cooks, nurses, etc.

Our summer theme is "Jesus Only" from Matthew 17:8 "When they had lifted up their eyes, they saw noone but Jesus only" (NKJV/ESV).  We'll be focusing on the 2nd person of the Trinity, and what it means to carry our crosses as young disciples of Christ.  Camp Lor-Ray is located near Muskegon, MI on 165 acres of forest land with a private lake.  It assists ELS and WELS churches by providing a Christ-Centered recreation environment for youth and families.  SCRIP PROGRAM

   

Again this year, parents who participate in the Scrip program will split the profits generated with Michigan Lutheran. Specifically, 50% of the profits will be applied to the student's tuition; the other 50% will be kept by ML for current expenses.  Relatives and friends may help increase an ML parent's order by having their orders placed on the ML parent's order form. If you have questions, please call Mrs. Bette Otte at 429-7861, ex. 212.

  

Scrip orders need to be turned in by 9:00 AM on Mondays. These orders will normally be available for pickup by Thursday of the same week. Orders placed after 9:00 AM may not be available until the following week.
