2013 WELS National Choral Festival
On November 7th, the Festival Singers of MLHS will be traveling to Lakeside Lutheran High School in Lake Mills, Wisconsin, to participate in this year's national WELS Choral Festival. Over 500 high school singers will join together to present a Pops Concert on Friday night (8:00 PM eastern time) and a Sacred Concert on Sunday afternoon (3:00 PM eastern time). If you can't make it to Wisconsin, you can watch the concerts streamed live on the internet - you'll find a link to watch the concerts on www.llhs.org , the website for Lakeside Lutheran High School. Please tune in and watch these special concerts - they're shaping up to be amazing performances!

  

 

  

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE 2013 DISTRICT VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONS! 

The volleyball team will be traveling to Kalamazoo Loy Norrix next Tuesday, November 12th for a 7 PM game. They hope to come away with a win and then play on Thursday, November 14th also at Loy Norrix.  We pray that the team and the coach stay healthy and focused to do the best they can to God's Glory.

Thanks to all those who purchased fruit or evergreens through the recent Fine Arts Department Fundraiser. Your orders should be arriving before Thanksgiving again this year. We appreciate your support! Limited amounts of extra wreaths, oranges, and grapefruit may be available for purchase if you didn't get a chance to order by the deadline.

 

 

 

 

Taste of Ministry/ Teaching

 

ML offers a program called Taste of Ministry/Taste of Teaching for juniors and seniors interested in the pastoral or teaching ministry.  Students will be matched with a local pastor or Lutheran elementary school teacher to spend a day learning what it's like to be on the other side of the desk.  If you are an ML junior or senior who is considering the public ministry and would like to participate in the program, please contact Mr. Herbst as soon as possible.

The MLHS Football Boosters will be hosting their 6th Annual MLHS Football Fundraiser, "Sports Mania"

Saturday, November 16, 2013 at

Pebblewood Country Club in Bridgman.

5:30 PM doors open, 6:00 PM fun and social time and 6:30 PM dinner and special guest speaker followed by a live auction and dance.

 

This year we will be having Special Guest Speaker, MLHS Alumni, Rev. Michael Biedenbender. Rev. Biedenbender will talk about the importance of High School Athletics, Football and their influence in his life.

We are looking for sports memorabilia items to auction off, or you can donate an individual item, a few items for a basket, or create your own theme basket to donate. Any donations can be brought to the school office and left with Mrs. Sievert. Lake Michigan College Scholarship Opportunity
  LMC is awarding any student who has at least a 2.5 GPA and 24 or higher on their ACT an automatic $1,000 scholarship to LMC.  Students can receive more than that but they will have to complete our online scholarship app.  which is found at www.lakemichigancollege.edu/scholarships
Priority of these funds will be given to 2014 graduates who have their applications entered by December 2013.   This application only takes approximately 10 minutes.

Selective Service Registration

Fall Sports Banquet

Tuesday, November 19th at 6:30

Parents, please check the ML website to find the work schedule for the banquet.  You will find it under "Save the Date,"  Fall Banquet Schedule.

  The annual fall sports banquet will be held on Tuesday, November 19, beginning at 6:30 PM.  All participants in fall activities will receive recognition.  Each family that plans to attend is asked to bring a main dish and salad, or a main dish and a dessert.  Please provide your own table service. Please offer generous portions so that no one is left without enough to eat.  Rolls and beverages will be provided.

Lutheran Chorale Christmas Season
The Lutheran Chorale of Southwest Michigan and Northern Indiana will once again be joining with the students of MLHS to present a Christmas Concert on Sunday, December 8th, at 7:00 PM. Rehearsals for this performance will be held in the MLHS Music Room on Sunday nights from 6-8 PM, beginning on November 17th. Please come and add your voice to our choir as we celebrate the birth of Jesus!

  

 


Junior Class Chili Supper
The Chilli Supper is Sunday, December 8, prior to the Christmas Concert.  The supper takes place from 5:00 to 6:30 PM in the MPR.  Free-will offerings will be accepted toward the supper.  Christmas cookies and candy will be sold be the pound.


 SCRIP PROGRAM

Scrip cards make great Christmas Gifts!

 

 Again this year, parents who participate in the Scrip program will split the profits generated with Michigan Lutheran. Specifically, 50% of the profits will be applied to the student's tuition, the other 50% will be kept by ML for current expenses.  Relatives and friends may help increase an ML parent's order by having their orders placed on the ML parent's order form. If you have questions, please call Mrs. Bette Otte at 429-7861, ex. 212.

  

Scrip orders need to be turned in by 9:00 AM on Mondays. These orders will normally be available for pickup by Thursday of the same week. Orders placed after 9:00 AM may not be available until the following week.
