Taste of Ministry/ Teaching

ML offers a program called Taste of Ministry/Taste of Teaching for Juniors and Seniors interested in the pastoral or teaching ministry. Students will be matched with a local pastor or Lutheran elementary school teacher to spend a day learning what it's like to be on the other side of the desk. If you are an ML Junior or Senior who is considering the public ministry and would like to participate in the program, please contact Mr. Herbst as soon as possible.

SUPPORT FOOTBALL AT MLHS

The MLHS Football Boosters need donations for their Football Fundraiser. We are looking for sports memorabilia items to auction off or you can donate an individual item, a few items for a basket or create your own theme basket to donate. Any donations can be brought to the school office and left with Mrs. Sievert. Please attach your name to the item so we know who to credit for the donation and also indicate it is for the Football Auction. We appreciate your support!

Lake Michigan College Scholarship Opportunity

LMC is awarding any student who has at least a 2.5 GPA and 24 or higher on their ACT an automatic $1,000 scholarship to LMC. Students can receive more than that but they will have to complete our online scholarship app. which is found at www.lakemichigancollege.edu/scholarships

Priority of these funds will be given to 2014 graduates who have their applications entered by December 2013. This application only takes approximately 10 minutes.

Selective Service Registration
Federal law says that all 18-year-old men must register with Selective Service within 30 days of their 18th birthday. BLUE STAR MOTHERS EVENT AT MLHS

Chapter 177 of the Blue Star Mothers of America will sponsor their eighth annual "support our troops" open house on Saturday, November 9, from 1-4 PM at MLHS. Everyone is welcome. The group is collecting items to prepare Christmas care packages to send to over 2000 soldiers. They have spent over $10,000 in postage alone! This is an amazing event and well worth your support and attendance. There will be special guests and a visit from Santa. BLESSINGS

To date our fortieth anniversary drive has garnered about $200,000. We have been able to fund a number of programs including new windows, tuition assistance and improvements to our school.

We are currently raising funds for two important items. Gifts given toward these projects would be gratefully received. The projects are: a completion of the windows and exterior doors replacement, and the addition of "Chromebooks" to enhance classroom instruction. Both are extremely important to the present and future of ML.

We have $7,000 toward the Chromebooks and need an additional $25,000 to provide each student with the use of the device. The exterior doors are being ordered and will be installed, God willing by the New Year. The remaining windows on the north side of the building will complete the replacements. Total cost for windows and doors is 32,000.

This year we will be having Special Guest Speaker, MLHS Alumni, Rev. Michael Biedenbender. Rev. Biedenbender will talk about the importance of High School Athletics, Football and their influence in his life.

ROBOTICS UPDATE

Congratulations to your CW Tech Robotics team for winning the West Michigan Robotics Invitational at West Zeeland High School this past Saturday. The team started the best of three elimination matches as the sixth seed alliance captain. Our alliance of three robots then went on to win the quarter-finals and semi-finals in four straight matches, ultimately defeating the number one seeded alliance in two matches during the finals. Anyone interested in joining this amazing multi-school team, please contact Mr. Andy Pappenfuss, Dr. Dale Quattrin at Coloma High School or one of the team members at your school.

2013 WELS National Choral Festival

On November 7^th, the Festival Singers of MLHS will be traveling to Lakeside Lutheran High School in Lake Mills, Wisconsin, to participate in this year's national WELS Choral Festival. Over 500 high school singers will join together to present a Pops Concert on Friday night (8:00 PM eastern time) and a Sacred Concert on Sunday afternoon (3:00 PM eastern time). If you can't make it to Wisconsin, you can watch the concerts streamed live on the internet - you'll find a link to watch the concerts on www.llhs.org , the website for Lakeside Lutheran High School. Please tune in and watch these special concerts - they're shaping up to be amazing performances!

Lutheran Chorale Christmas Season

The Lutheran Chorale of Southwest Michigan and Northern Indiana will once again be joining with the students of MLHS to present a Christmas Concert on Sunday, December 8^th, at 7:00 PM. Rehearsals for this performance will be held in the MLHS Music Room on Sunday nights from 6-8 PM, beginning on November 17^th. Please come and add your voice to our choir as we celebrate the birth of Jesus!
