 2012-13 School Sportsmanship Awards

Michigan Lutheran MS/HS was honored with both the Walt Lange Sportsmanship Award and the Denny Kniola Sportsmanship Award again for 2012-13. Michigan Lutheran is consistently at or near the top each year in the voting for these awards and are actually repeating from last year for both. Congratulations to all the student-athletes, coaches and supporters from ML whose consistent display of sportsmanship earned them this award.

Congratulations to the Michigan Lutheran Middle School Girls' Titan Basketball Team on their successful tournament run this past weekend at Valparaiso University in Indiana.

32 Lutheran teams from around the United States were invited to the 67th
annual double-elimination tournament. The Titans almost won their first round game; however, they then went on a three game win streak in the consolation bracket. The Titans found themselves in a close game which ended in a two-point loss for the right to move on to the Consolation Championship game. (If you had a chance to watch any of the games on the internet, you know how exciting that game was - along with the others in which they played. If you want a commemorative DVD of the tournament games please visit   www.lba.org
to place your orders.

The Titan Nation is proud of your outstanding record over the course of the season (24-6), but is even prouder of the way you represented yourselves, your team, your families, the Titan family, and most importantly your Lord. You played with hustle, integrity, and class. Way to go!

Coaches: Bret Witkowski, Brandon Newberry, Doug Williams, and Beth McFarland

Players: Lilli Kacynski, Morgan McGhee, Erika Rosenbaum, Harneet Singh, Kelli Williams, Emily Witkowski, Emily Gaines, Julie Jasper, Mara McFarland, Callie Stoub

Robotics

Congratulations to your CW Tech Robotics team for winning the St. Joseph district event against 39 other teams. This past weekend, after going 12-0 during the qualifying matches and achieving the number 1 seed rank, the Robotarians formed an alliance with Team Excel from Niles and The Copperbots from Calumet, Michigan to compete in the elimination matches. After sweeping the quarter-final and semi-final matches, your Robotics team won the event in three very tight finals matches. The CW Tech Robotarians are presently ranked 2nd in the State and, as of Friday, 14th among 850 FIRST teams worldwide. This win qualifies us to compete at the Michigan State Competition in April. Way to go team!!!

The team would like to thank the numerous faculty, staff, and administrators who came and supported your team. It was greatly appreciated!
