Strategic Planning Needs You!
It is customary for many to look for ways to improve themselves in the New Year through resolutions. MLHS is also dedicated to improving its ministry to teenagers. In the next two months, we are gathering input from all our major stakeholders in order to put together a strategic plan with the main goal of improving our high school and setting a vision for the future. If you have received an invitation to participate in these focus groups, please RSVP to Mrs. Sievert ([email protected]) to let us know if you will be able to join us. If you did not get an invitation, but would be willing to be a part of a focus group, we are holding an Open Forum on February 19 at 6:30 pm at ML. Everyone's input is necessary as we seek to move forward as a leader in secondary Christian education.

What's been happening at ML?

~CPR Training~
We would like to express sincere thanks to Mrs. Nicole Smith and Medic One out of Benton Harbor for certifying 23 ML students in CPR and AED.   The students are from the ML Health Class taught by Mrs. Janet Wunderlich .
The CPR training took place on January 17th and 18th in the Michigan Lutheran High School Gymnasium. . This training will help them to save a life and also be a great asset in their future communities.

Contact Information Updates
Has your contact information changed since the beginning of the school year (cell, home, work, address, etc.)? If so, please contact Mrs. Sievert in the office so that we can have the most up-to-date contact information.

Funds Needed:
The classroom windows on the North side of the school need to be replaced.  We are now collecting for Phase Two of this project. We are in need of at least $10,000 to complete this phase of the job.  If you are able to help, contact Bill Kruck or Bette Otte at ML.  This is a maintenance task that needs to be completed soon!

 SCRIP PROGRAM

Again this year, parents who participate in the Scrip program will split the profits generated with Michigan Lutheran. Specifically, 50% of the profits will be applied to the student's tuition, the other 50% will be kept by ML for current expenses.  Relatives and friends may help increase an ML parent's order by having their orders placed on the ML parent's order form. If you have questions, please call Mrs. Bette Otte at 429-7861, ex. 212.

Emergency School Closing Information  Instant Alert Notification

You received information in the mail regarding the "Instant Alert" emergency notification system. Simply visit https://instantalert.honeywell.com/ and follow the instructions listed there. When you register, be sure to select Michigan Lutheran High School from the drag-down menu. Parents, not students, should set up the family's contact information and keep the family's login and password secure.
When a combination of Benton Harbor, Lakeshore, or St. Joseph schools are closed or delayed because of bad weather, MLHS will either delay (10:00 AM EST), or will close. The following radio and television stations should have closing information by 6:30 AM. Parents may also check the ML website or call to receive a message on the answering machine by 6:45 AM.
ML does not inform parents that school is in session, only if it is closed. In the event students would have to drive in bad weather, err on the side of caution and stay at home or get a later start. Then, remember to inform the school with a written note on the next attendance day. Please do not call before 6:45 AM to give the school time to make an informed decision.
