MISSION STATEMENT

 Michigan Lutheran High School provides a Christ-centered, confessionally Lutheran secondary education to prepare young adults for lives of Christian service in their churches, workplaces, communities, the world, and for life with their Lord in eternity. 

   

 
Daylight Savings Time Ends
On November 4, 2012 Daylight Savings time ends.  Don't forget to turn your clocks back one hour!
 
November Association/Foundation Meeting
The ML Association/Foundation meeting will take place Sunday, November 4, 2012, at MLHS.  The meeting will begin at 2:30 PM.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 
Powerlifting Teams
The first Powerlifting for next week has been moved from Tuesday, November 6th to Monday November 5th at 3:30 for the ladies and 4:30 for the guys. 
 

 

There will be no hot lunch served on Friday, November 9. 

 

GUIDANCE
Sophomore Parents:  Two November events are mandatory for sophomores!

Saturday, November 10:  Blue Star Mother Organization meets at ML.  Sophomore students in U.S. History have an opportunity to serve at this event.  Help is needed from 9 AM until 4 PM for lifting, setting up displays, and boxing gifts to be sent to our troops.  As part of the History Class requirements, each student must volunteer some time to help with this important task. Students will be asked to to sign up for a time slot on Tuesday, November 6.  Please encourage your students to serve!  Any quetions can be referred to Mr. Kruck.
Monday, November 12:  ML welcomes a special speaker for a 7 PM presentation in the ML gumnasium.  The speaker is Bernice "Bee" Falk Haydu, a pioneer in ladies aviation.  She will share her experiences in WWII and after the War.  Sophomore U.S. History students and parents are cordially invited to this annual Venteran's Day Event!  Contact Mr. Kruck for more information. 
Sophomore Parents:
This last week in History Class I handed out the results of the PLAN Test that had been administered to these students earlier this year.  Please ask your students for it.

Parenting Seminar at St. Paul's Stevensville

On November 10th, the husband and wife team of Aaron and Sarah Bauer (WELS teachers from Milwaukee, WI) will be providing a one-day parenting seminar at St. Paul's in Stevensville. This seminar is based on the well-known parenting book,"Parenting with Love & Logic." They have conducted seminars throughout the country and provide useful information about Christian parenting. The day will consist of two major sessions (each one different), one in the morning (9:00-11:30 am), and the other in the afternoon (12:30-3:00 pm). Lunch will be provided in between. The cost to attend the entire day (with lunch included) is only $10. Babysitting is also offered free of charge. Please call St. Paul's office 269-429-5141 to register or if you have any questions.

 STUFF-A-TRUCK

The Titan Student Council is organizing ML's participation in the annual "Stuff-a-Truck" food drive. Donation items include cereal, canned proteins (tuna, chicken, stew, etc.), macaroni & cheese, dry beans, pasta in all shapes and varieties, hygiene products, soup, peanut butter, and rice. The food drive will take place now until November 5. Please feel free to drop off items any time before November 5. 

 

 

Titan Burger Chef Needed: 

ML is in need of an assistant to help head Titan Burger Chef Mr. Jennings.  This will be a seasonal job during basketball season and will mainly be the dates of home basketball games.  If you can volunteer your time in this way, please contact ML Athletic Director Mr. Eggert @ 269-429-7861 Ext. 215

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE 2012 DISTRICT VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONS!  The volleyball team will be traveling to Mendon High School next Tuesday, November 6th for a 5:30 PM game. They hope to come away with a win and then play on Thursday, November 8th at 7 PM, also in Mendon.  We pray that the team and the coach stay healthy and focused to do the best they can to God's Glory.

FALL SPORTS BANQUET

 

The annual fall sports banquet will be held on Tuesday, November 13, beginning at 6:30 PM.  All participants in fall activities will receive recognition.  Each family that plans to attend is asked to bring a main dish and salad, or a main dish and a dessert.  Please provide your own table service. Please offer generous portions so that no one is left without enough to eat.  Rolls and beverages will be provided.

The MLHS Football Boosters will be hosting their 5th Annual MLHS Football Fundraiser.

 "Come Aboard the Titan Cruise Line"

on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Pebblewood Country Club in Bridgman. At 6:00 PM doors open, and there will be a 6:30 PM dinner followed by a live auction and dance. Tickets are $20 for 8th grade and younger, $25 for High School Students and Adults. To purchase tickets, call Julie Nitz (269) 422-2745 or email her at ajnitz@aol.comor you may contact the MLHS School Office at (269) 429-7861, Ext 201. Tickets must be purchased by Monday, November 12th. Tickets will NOT be held or sold at the door.

 We still need donations. We are always looking for sports memorabilia items to auction off or

you can donate an individual item, a few items for a basket or create your own theme basket to donate. Any donations can be brought to the school office and left with Mrs. Sievert. Please attach your name to the basket so we know to whom we should give credit.  Please note on the donation form the intent for the Football Auction.  We appreciate your support.

 

 

 SCRIP PROGRAM

 

 Again this year, parents who participate in the Scrip program will split the profits generated with Michigan Lutheran. Specifically, 50% of the profits will be applied to the student's tuition, the other 50% will be kept by ML for current expenses.  Relatives and friends may help increase an ML parent's order by having their orders placed on the ML parent's order form. If you have questions, please call Mrs. Bette Otte at 429-7861, ex. 212.

  

Scrip orders need to be turned in by 9:00 AM on Mondays. These orders will normally be available for pickup by Thursday of the same week. Orders placed after 9:00 AM may not be available until the following week.

First quarter report cards were mailed this week.  If you did not receive your child's report card in the mail, please feel free to contact our financial secretary Bette Otte at 269-429-7861 ext.212. 
 
SECOND QUARTER MIDTERM period ends on Thursday, November 15, 2012.  These grades are available on powerschool.  A mailing of grades will take place again following the first semester. 
 
Thanksgiving Holiday 
Both the school and financial offices will be closed on Thursday, November 22 and Friday, November 23 for the holiday.  Regular classes begin again on Monday, November 26, at 8 AM.  We pray that you and your family have a safe and happy break, and that you use this opportunity to thank our Lord for His many gifts of grace.  PLEASE NOTE:  No SCRIP orders will be taken during the week of November 19.  We apologize for any inconvenience.
