Olsson Associates will open 'design studio' with the acquisition of Ochsner Hare & Hare
Ochsner Hare & Hare (OHH) will join Olsson Associates on Monday, November 24. OHH, a Kansas City planning and landscape architecture design firm with a 100-plus year legacy, will operate as a design studio at Olsson Associates. OHH will maintain its office in downtown Kansas City at 1801 McGee St., #101. All staff members will remain with the firm.

Overnight bridge installation connects Olsson's specialties

 


The old Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) truss bridge near Tecumseh, Nebraska, is being lifted and removed in order to slide the new Olsson-designed, through plate girder bridge (in back) in place. Crews then installed the adjoining concrete approach spans. This 17-hour installation occurred October 22 and can be viewed via a time-lapse video by clicking on the image above or here.

Knowing where wildlife have "set up shop" can be crucial for organizations looking to build in an area or for groups seeking to protect certain habitats. Faced with high infrastructure costs that were driving away potential homebuilders, Richmark Real Estate selected Olsson to take a fresh look at its housing development concept in Greeley, Colorado. This exercise led to potential savings of $2.5 million in infrastructure costs and created major development efficiencies.

The Minden City Council hired Olsson Associates earlier this year to study Minden's water woes--water that's yellow, light brown, pink, or even rusty--and come up with a solution. During the process, a larger concern regarding water capacity was discovered.
