Greetings from Olsson Associates
Putting our trust in science to assess "things unseen" is the focus of our articles in this month's Perspectives. Below, we discuss Olsson's work on trenchless technology to construct or repair sewer projects without having to open the ground. We also present a primer on what our Non-destructive Testing (NDT) staff members do to assess the structural integrity of our bridges, roads, and other infrastructure--without physically damaging them.
Finally, we are pleased to report that the State of Nebraska has chosen Olsson for its statewide Water Funding Task Force. Olsson will provide its expert services for this legislative directive that will help the state determine funding to manage Nebraska's water sustainability.
As always, I welcome your questions or feedback. Please don't hesitate to contact me. |
Olsson Associates: Regional Leaders In Trenchless Technology
Many communities have older sanitary sewer systems made of vitrified clay and concrete pipes that corrode, crack, and become filled with tree roots and other debris. Fixing these systems with traditional methods can be time-consuming, unsightly, and expensive. A much less intrusive option for sewer rehabilitation is incorporating trenchless technologies.

Non-destructive Testing 101
From our bridges to our Tilt-o-Whirl carnival rides, sound construction must be monitored not only by the naked eye but also through careful testing to observe what our eyes can't see. Olsson's Non-destructive Testing (NDT) staff members excel at this practice and can help ensure clients' projects are structurally sound.
Currently, Olsson's NDT team is continuing to perform NDT on-call services for Omaha and Sarpy County clients, which include Westcon Industries, Weitz, Waldinger, Puritan Manufacturing, Smeal Fire Apparatus, and OPPD. See the sidebar article on what Olsson's NDT Group Leader Eric Nordhues has to say about the practice.
